So what game in your opinion was the best pc game last year?

I completed all of the games on my list, I rated them from 7.5 to 9.5.

I agree with Max Payne 3 .. just started and loving it. It's much better than the other games I bought that came out in 2012 "Assassin's Creed 3" and Ghost Recon Future Soldier".

I still consider Mass Effect 3 to be my overall 2012 GOTY but when it comes to PC games only, Guild Wars 2 is the clear winner. While I feel GW2 has some issues in some places I can honestly say that it has the best world design I have seen in a game period and it easily one of the best PC games that has come around in a while.

Those are my top 5 for 2012. The Walking Dead is easily my GOTY. Those 5 are not exclusive to PC.

I don't know what my GotY is yet, and I'm still playing through some games, XCOM (25 hours in), Sleeping Dogs (7 hours in), Torchlight II (22 hours in) and need to start a few others that I just purchased once I finish those three up (Borderlands 2, Mark of the Ninja and Lone Survivor). But here are my ten favorites (in no real order, I guess)

However, I'm only 7 hours into Sleeping Dogs, so it might be a top 10 game as I'm loving it right now. And then I still need to start the other three. And I still want to buy Guild Wars 2. So yeah, these are my ten for now, I guess. But there are 4-5 more games I still want to play.

It's been a pretty dry year for me as I found some of the popular titles very boring. And some of them I simply havent played.

My 5 best games list (unordered) would be:

• Hotline Miami
• The Walking Dead
• XCOM: Enemy Unknown
• Diablo 3 (yes, I found this game fun while it lasted, and it lasted around 154 hours)

Dark Souls is a 2011, it would have easily been here as well.

Haven't played Far Cry 3 or Borderlands 2.

1. Far Cry 3

Best game to come out this year. But also Hotline Miami, Binary Domain, and Borderlands 2 were very amazing and almost quite up there with FC3. Dishonored was good too.

PlanetSide 2. But I didnt play Sleeping Dogs yet, which looks a lot of fun.

I also really liked Dishonored and Torchlight II but are also plenty that I have missed like Mass Effect 3, Max Payne 3, The Walking Dead, Hitman: Absolution and XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

Although I've played many pc games in 2012 that I have enjoyed, Dayz mod gave me an experience that I have never had before. It's not only a favorite for 2012, but for my lifetime. I'm definitely looking forward to the stand alone. Daywalk3r7

having played a majority of the major titles released this year, I would have to give the best release to Mists of Pandaria. I know, a lot of people may criticize my choice... but I have to say, I was also skeptical at first but the game really won me over so kudos to Blizzard for this redemption from D3... :S

Did people not like Torchlight 2? I don't see it on many people's list, nor Diablo 3. I'm just curious. I'm thinking about picking up Torchlight 2 even though I put in a lot of hours into Diablo 3 already. This is me being worried I would be burned out on ARPG's. Elann2008

I personally couldn't get into Torchlight 2, I have the game and played through it quite a bit but the combat, skills and overall art style just couldn't keep me playing. The one thing that I love about D3 is the destructive physics and TL2 was just way to static for me, being able to blow body parts away and actually cause scene destruction really gives combat that extra punch. I also like the ability to change runes whenever I want when the situation dictates in D3, there are many situations in the game (especially inferno mode) that you just have to be able to switch entire builds in order to get past and I just felt way to restricted in TL2.
