RPG.... even though the consoles are getting a lot of the same RPG's on them, I still think it's worth getting the PC version of them (unless the console version comes out first i.e. Mass Effect). Then there's NWN 2 and the Witcher that are PC exclusive and all the old great RPG's that still work on today's systems.
Out of the 5 you proposed, I reckon that the RPG genre is my favourite since I really enjoy The Witcher! However, I mostly prefer games similar to Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed.
Simulations. I like the feeling that it's possible to fly a 747 under a bridge, powerslide a porsche around the Nurburgring or build Rome from the groud up if I was rich and bored.
I voted strategy. Play them the most and they got me into PC gaming. But I love the rest as well, except simulations and mmorpg's... Then it's just hit and miss.
I can't really say favorite because I have a good selection from all...I guess Strategy but I would vote for all...KotOR makes RPG awesome, WoW makes MMORPGs Awesome, Crysis, HL2, and BF2 make FPS awesome, and CoH, DoW, and Total War make Strategy awesome.
