8800 gtx x2, yeah call me cheap but i always bought what was the best bang for your buck midrange at the times, eg. 7600 gt, 6600 gt, etc.... i just took the plunge to high-end just recently.
Hercules CGA card. My monitor was amber. Great card. I was doing some troubleshooting and I pulled it out while the computer was still on. I was a total noob back then. :D

ATi Rage Pro I know it was high end for the time! Now it cant even play CSS ... pity : \ well im getting a 8600GT soon thats high end enough for me lol
The ATI Rage Orion was pretty damn high-end when I got it. It ran Unreal beautifully. First time I ever got vertigo playing a game was walking out of the crashed prison ship and looking down over that huge (well, it was huge for a game at the time) lake.
Well, there were a few times where Descent came close to giving me vertigo, but not like that.
My progression has gone as follows: Integrated back in 96 or so, Radeon 9200 in 2002 ish, x200 laptop 2 years ago, x800GTO AGP last summer, and as of last month I got my first high end card, an 8800GTS 640MB.

lol, I have the x200 in my DESKTOP. Its intregrated, but thats all I have until I get my 8800 gts :)
All integrated cards until i got the ATI 9800pro in 2001, which was elite back then. I remember playing day of defeat and later morrowind with all the settings turned on :shock:

It was actually pretty good for a laptop when I bought it :) (Summer 05) Got an HP Pavilion for college...but I've since gotten rid of it =P
Nvidia DDR 32mb when it very first came out. It was 1999 when I bought a Gateway, came with it and wow... its freaking good actually. Lasted me up to MoH: Alied Assault(played on max at 1024x768!) :D

Oooooh, Voodoo. There were the kings of their time. I had an Obsidian 24, remembrer that one? It was two Voodoos in one card with a whopping 24MB of memory. I still have that card in my closet. I remember saving money like CRAZY and calling for weeks to be one of the first to get one. That one made Wing Commander run sweeeeeeeeeet!!! :D
Is the Radeon X1950XT still considered high end when bought after the GeForce 8800s came out? Man, I still remember how I used to dream about buying a computer with a Voodoo 2...
ATI Radeon 9800Pro 256mb AGP.....that was a really great card ! ...I have it running in my wife's computer and it can still play a game or two.........:)
The Voodoo5 5500 was my first high-end card. I would go mainstream for a bit after that, returning to the high-end with the 6800 GT and 7800 GTX. Been there ever since.
My current 8800gts 640mb. At first I always had crappy integrated graphics cause I didn't know anything about computers, then I got a 6800, which was mid range....and now i have the 8800
Obsidian 24, then probably the next "high-end" thing I got was a radeon 9800 pro. It's really frustrating to think we spend so much on stuff that is so crappy now :-S It's not like most hobbies where you buy something and it keeps giving.
If I could, I would go back in time and stop myself from buying those cards and be like "hey wait! that card sux! In 10 years, you will get a geforce 8 series card! DONT WASTE THE CASH FOR GOD'S SAKE! Wing Commander isn't even that great."
