Since someone started a similar thread in SW about the same topic. I thought I would start one for PC only.

Post the year and your favorite game for it beside the year. Here's mine;

2000 - No One Lives Forever. The FPS genre was missing a female lead character set in the psychedelic 60's. Deus Ex comes second with a honorable mention.

2001 - Return to Castle Wolfenstein. We return to the world of Wolfenstein after nearly a decade. Features great graphics powered by the Quake III engine, only it looks much better and crisper.

2002 - No One Lives Forever 2. More psychedelic fun from the 60's. Oh, did mention, NOLF/NOLF 2 is my favorite FPS from the early 2000's? Why no sequel? :(

2003 - Max Payne 2. Sequel to the great Max Payne. This game is as good as the original if not better. The graphics and the physics have been revamped. Max meets a new character named Mona Sax who he becomes romantically involved but is she to be trusted? Play the game to find out! I highly recommend it. It's short but sweet.

2004 - Half-Life 2. Easy choice without a doubt the BEST of 2004.

2005 - F.E.A.R. Although I would rate Need For Speed Most Wanted (PC) a close second as I think that was the last "great" Need For Speed game.

2006 - Tomb Raider Legend. A reboot of the series under new developer Crystal Dynamics. Built upon a brand new engine. Has beautiful graphics set in various exotic locations and features a setting in the game for "next gen graphics" that drastically improved the in game graphics. I would say this was the first Tomb Raider game that brought Lara Croft to life. She talks a lot more and shows more emotions through the various cut scenes. Oblivion may have been better but I haven't played an ounce of that game to comment.

2007 - Crysis. A game ahead of it's time, a visually stunning masterpiece. And one of the best open ended FPS ever made.

2008 - Crysis Warhead. Sequel to the great Crysis game except that you are set on the other side of the island and play as a different character. The characters look better and it's more optimized more so provides less stress on your hardware. The game looks equally beautiful like Crysis and has awesome gameplay, although more linear than Crysis.

2009 - Dirt 2. An excellent off road racing game. One of the first to feature DX 11 graphics. The water looks so much better in DX 11 not to mention DX 11 tessellation makes the game even look better.

2010 - Assassins Creed II. Takes place in Renaissance Italy. Provides stunning architecture and great gameplay.

2011 - Battlefield 3. Sequel to BF 2 returns after a 6 year hiatus. The best looking game in that year and the game to took back the graphics crown from Crytek. Although Skryim maybe better but haven't played enough of the game to comment.

2012 - Far Cry 3 (PC). Finally game that comes close to the epic that was the original.

2013 - Bioshock Infinite. Quite possibly the best of all the Bioshock games. Features a beautiful setting and an awesome storyline to boot. Honorable mention: Tomb Raider. Going back to the roots and the origin of Lara Croft. The game is more grittier and features beautiful environments. One of the first games to feature, TressFX, the realistic rendering of real life hair and about time. Got tired of seeing tech demos with no actual implementation of realistic hair in an actual game. Once you see it you never want to go back playing Tomb Raider or any other game without TressFX.

If anybody want's a reference to which games came out in which year. Can refer to this link below:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000_in_video_gaming

So, what are your favorite games from the year 2000- 2013?

What are your guys thoughts on best multiplayer game of the decade?

I would have to go BF2 first, then COD (original+exp pack) second, bf1942 third. I really feel like online FPS gaming has fallen off from its golden days, or I'm just missing something.

For best single player game, HL2, no doubt, it really was groundbreaking

BF2 is probably the best multiplayer fps on the PC in that time period, though I would honestly struggle to play it again due to outdated graphics when compared to bf 4.

Thoroughly agree. BF 2 was without a doubt the best multiplayer during that time period. The only thing that I could think of that replaced it would be Bad Company 2 nearly 5 years later. Even years later BF 2 server were full.

No game - especially one with guns - is a billion times better than FEAR. Go back to your awkward controls and 30 fps slideshows.

This is actually a really hard list, since some games (like Simcity 4 and Unreal Tournament 3) didn't get good until people started adding lots of custom content.

For the sake of simplicity, I'll ignore the Sims entirely, since they've probably released new content at least once every year.

2000: NOLF. I was a big fan of Monolith games for a long while, and this was one of the reasons. Lovely graphics, and the guns had real power to them. Very fun - except the "insta-fail" stealth portions.

2001: Well...I....huh? Okay, let's say "Max Payne" it was pretty fun with cheat codes I guess.

2002: NOLF2. In hindsight, it was not as impressive technically. I did love using phosphorus rounds, but even to this day I have never had the game play smoothly, not matter what fraps says (turning off v-sync tends to make the game look like 10-15 fps)

Jedi Outcast was a close second, but there were some parts of the story I really didn't like.

2003: WHAT A YEAR!!!!! Can't pick a single game over all the others.

2004: AHA! That's easy! UT2004, right? Oh wait...ROME TOTAL WAR!

2005: See...well...? I guess I'll say it was Need for Speed: Most Wanted. It was the first racing game I ever bought. In the long term though, X3: Reunion is probably the one I've played the most.

...and then I remembered Guild Wars!

2006: Medieval 2: Total War

2007: Sins of a Solar Empire came out...but I'm going to give this one to Project Gotham Racing 4. Love that game. UT3 also came out, but I imagine most of the maps I use...did not.

2008: Aha...the windows port of Mass Effect came out! I couldn't play it at the time with my CPU, but it was still released in 2008.

2009: I promised I wouldn't ever mention the Sims (even thought this was when the Sims 3 came out), so ... uhh... Oh! Forza Motorsport 3!

2010: Mass Effect 2 AND GTA 4: Episodes from Liberty City. I'm not picking a winner. Just pretend one came out in 2009.

2011: Saints Row 3 and Skyrim.

And Test Drive Unlimited 2 was my most disappointing game ever.

Much like UT3, they changed the single player experience, without thinking that perhaps people played the single player on previous games because of what it was. A shallow "campaign" with annoying dialogue is not what anyone wanted, and the changes they made to the single-player races, was, in a word, abysmal. It's like someone in charge wanted to ruin the game, and everyone else was too busy or too stupid to notice.

2012: Mass Effect 3 and Max Payne 3. Honorable mention goes to Dead or Alive 5.

2013: Divinity: Dragon Commander

Damn hard list, damn hard. I don't have enough time to play games for thousands of hours and still pick favourites for every year.

________________________________________

i know this list isnt the best games, but its the games I played the most for those years, or the games I had the most fun with or remembered with the best memories of... this list was hard to make because some of the years I didn't play much games, or had played more on consoles instead. And this is just my opinion of games i had fun with even though you may not like them at all.
