As much as I liked Interplay and their excellent writers, Bethesda is going to shoot it down. If you look at your own link you'll find the information regarding the legal matter of suspending that license. In other words, Interplay screwed up and couldn't finance it. Long story short, you won't find the fallout MMO coming out. THis is probably going to be interplays fallout 3 version 2.0 (which if you recall was cancled mid production).
You what? I'm sorry, but Interplay has proven that it is a much more capable developer than Bethesda. Yeah, Bethesda made Fallout 3 which was pretty good, but only because it stuck with what Interplay has made in the past rather than what Bethesda has made. And even then, the first two Fallout games are MUCH better. And personally, I'm glad it's Interplay making it, since it means it may be the first MMO that I'll actually consider playing. That's if it happens of course, apparently Bethesda are trying to get the MMO rights too now. It's being made by interplay, but I wish it was beign made by Bethesda. Linkage

I'm actually interested in seeing how it will work. I could see it being a success.

This! It could either be really cool, or just meh and have some diehard fans play it and that's about it. I honestly like interplay. Bethesda is just meh, alll their games have the same element, which isn't a bad thing, but after playing oblivion for ~50 and Fallout 3 ~40 i'd like to see some new gameplay and just a fresh new take on things. Fallout 3 = just a really intricate Oblivion mod :P
While I'm sure a Fallout MMO would probably make a lot of money, and may actually be good I have to admit that I'm kind of happy that the current one is getting cancelled for whatever reason. As when I think of Fallout I can't help but think that the environment, and the feeling of the game would be hurt be having a large amount of people running around the servers. I would prefer an post-apocolyptic universe being sparesely populated which isn't exactly what MMOs are about.

furthermore a fallout MMO could never happen why? because rpg's turned mmo would suck such as in star wars galaxies or lord of the rings. now these are slightly bad examples as via technicalities they have been minorly successful but they havent gotten the fame and glory others have. and before someone starts whining over warhammer online let it be known that the tabletop is a strategy game not an rpg.
there is a second reason for this NOT EVERY FRANCHISE CAN BE TEMPLATED FLATTENED AND ROLLED OUT INTO AN MMO. ive said this a few hundred times to people and no one seems to get it. saying that we might get a Heroes of M&M mmo is nice in theory but to make theories a reality and then convince sumone outside the established fanbase to buy into the concept while have the fan base buy into it aswell is very difficult. which is why many brand name MMO's have fallen under such as D&D stormreach, LOTR, age of conan, the matrix online, and to some extent priates of the carribean online (mainly this is because i dont like rashing at new developers games). so i will sya this good riddance to the idea and burn there oblivion MMO with it two good "concept" but bad games waiting for a dev. team.
Didn't it get cancelled? FelipeInside
It did. No one has actually read the first news article under the headline.....
The Fallout franchise is f'ed no matther what. Beth's already mutilated it. As for Interplay, they didn't make FO1/2, Black Isle did. And even though one of the core devs from FO1/2 is helming the new MMO, I doubt it's gonna be any good because considering the financial state Interplay is in, profit is gonna be the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd priority of the project. That's if (a big if) Interplay manages to keep the license.

No it's not final yet. Notice the word "intends." Interplay is gonna dispute this, and there's gonna be a legal battle.

If the beginning starts out with a legal battle....what can we expect from the game.... :( shame, it's such a great ideaPersonally, I don't have high hopes for this game regardless of who is developing it but I'd still rather have Interplay make it because their Fallout games were actually good.
