1. Total War Series (Rome particularly)
Yeah I'd say I've logged easily 500 or more hours in Total War games. Rome: TW was a masterpiece, every faction faced different challenges in terms of both strategic and tactical fronts. The Julii faced countless Barbarian hordes and the cold winter, the Brutii went up against the phalanxes of Greece, then the chariots of Pontus, and finally the Scipii were tasked with defeating mighty Carthage in the deserts of North Africa. With each family you were provided with essentiallty the same tools, but your challenges varied massively. In the north, the barbarians would strike without warning in massive numbers and it was your duty as a commander to show them the art of war. The Greeks and People of Pontus in the east first demanded the ability to master maneuver warfare and out flank the phalanx, then pitted you against chariots that struck like lightning and decimated ranks. Finally to the south, Carthage and her warriors were vast and varied, with the most flexible of all armies, easily rivaling the legionnaires witht he added threat of elephants!
Indeed the game provided seemingly limitless encounters that always required the absolute best of the player. I played as nearly every major faction from Egypt to Britain, and completely played that game to death. Ahh good times.
1. Hitman 2: Silent Assasin 2. Mafia 3. Max Payne 4. Warcraft 3 + TFT 5. Jazz Jack Rabbit 1404-not-found
Loved Hitman 2 : Silent Assasin and Max Payne 1 & 2...they are both in my top 10 ten list, but couldn't add them to this list because I played them both on the original xBox and not on the PC, so I guess it really doesn't count on this survey....Also the movie 'Hitman' was really good !
