OTHERS = Neverwinter NIghts 1 and 2, Morrowind and the New Vegas I also enjoyed
Those are probably my fav pc rpgs of all time
And my fav MMO of all time is hands down Ultima Online
I wasn't a PC gamer, back when all those "legendary" games came out, and being such a graphics junkie, I never bothered to play them. I have heard great things about those games, so very list you got there.
Personally, I love Western PRGs, over any genre. The Witcher, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Warhammer Online (if you count MMORPGs), and I'm hoping I could add Dragon Age, and a few others to my list.
In no order.
NWN 2 + expansions - I love party interaction. The characters, the end battle in the main game and the way the spirit meter added tension to the expansion. I also like the amount of races, classes and builds one is able to make in the game.
Baldur's Gate 2 and ToB - This game has one of the more interesting antagonist and the expansion made it really feel like your party was a bunch of epic classed characters with the higher level cap and the expanded weapons.
Morrowind and expansions - The first time I contracted vampirism and began to stalk the streets of Balmora only to run into a bunch of guards who cornered me into a dead end alley, I then was surprised to see I could leap to the roof of single story buildings and I lept rooftop to rooftop out of the city with the guards yelling below. After that I was in and spent over 100 hours trying to get everything I could out of that game.
Freedom Force - the golden age of comics mixed in with RPGness. This is one of those games that just had a moment where I realized how great the fighting is.
Fallout 2 - Slavery, drug addiction, pornos, prostitution, racism, child killing. They don't make games like this anymore and they sure as hell don't make them this humorous and free roaming.
Honerable Mentions
Arx Fatalis - Great setting and the use of items in the puzzles were really interesting. I also like that if I couldn't get through a puzzle, I could always just steal/kill for what I wanted.
Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines - Even though I played the game upon release and it was a buggy mess, I enjoyed the characters and the amount of difference between vampire clans. Also love the setting and the side quests.
KOTOR - I never was into Star Wars but this game made me a fan of the setting and mythos real quick.
Fallout 3 - Still playing through it and I don't know how it's going to play out in the end but it's already more RPG goodness than Morrowind. The way ammo can quickly dwindle and the weapons can fall apart really add to the feeling of a hopeless wasteland.

Good taste, man! You can just...get Planescape, if you know what I mean. After all, the original developers aren't going to be seeing the money even if you were to buy it from someone.
I'd rather not. I thought System Shock 2 was abandonware, but it turns out that EA still hoarded the damn IP (and the fact that the term abandonware itself isn't perfectly legal either was a problem too).
Do all RPG games start out so slow? I've played both Fallout and Deus Ex and I can't get into either one of them.bedram793
Yeah alot of rpgs start out slow. For alot of people it takes awhile to get into an rpg. But if you stick with them they usually pick up and have great storys/characters.
1 - Planescape: Torment
2 - Fallout 1/2 (couldn't choose between them)
3 - The Witcher
4 - Vampire: Bloodlines
5 - Gothic 2/3 (never played 1 - I'll have to buy it on GOG soon)
