What was your worst addicion in gaming?

Mine was with mu online, i was waking up EVERY night, in the middle on the night, to check if i sold all the stuff in my shop, and to make sure i didnt disconnnected... (im pretty sure a lot of people who played MMO did this in some point in their MMO life:P)

Not to mention that the first thing that i did after coming back from school is to check again if i sold anything :P

Also at one point in the game there was an update that introduced 2 rings that a charecter can drop in lvl 40 & 80, you could get some nice stuff from the rings so i remember training TONS of charecters up to lvl 40 like a maniac just to drop the rings and hope ill get something nice. Most of the time it was junk:cry:

Final Fantasy XI for me. It was my first MMO so I was excited for that, I love Final Fantasy, and being a Jr in high school with no job the idea of a game not only having limitless possibilites was great but a Final Fantasy game made it sound even better. I played that game every free chance I got. When I got home from school I would rush through my math and only bother with english if it only involved actually turning something in. We didn't have homework in photo and I would sometimes do my Japanese home work while waiting for a party or just do it real quick after my math. My studying for a spelling test would consist of trying to memorize words while waiting for a party or for a quick 5 min before bed and before class. I skimmed through chapters in our book so I couldn't contribute to in class discussions, I would study at bit more for a math test but not as enough as I should have, heck even for photo class when the teacher said bring in picture I brought in screen shots from the game. My parents would get mad at me because when it was dinner I would say I couldn't come down staris and ask t eat upstairs, if my parents needed me for something else and I said I couldn't because I was in a party they would get mad, my grandma got mad at me once for not coming down for dinner when she was staying over she came in my room and pretty much threw my plate at me lol. I failed the first semester of 11th grade geometery and english and had to retake math in summer school and english senior year along wit my 12 grade english class.

probably Ultima Online back in 1997, i would stay up way too late playing it and be half asleep during school the next day. Probably another bad addiction was WOW and a few other online games. They can really suck u in if your not careful.

WoW. There was a time when I actually felt I would be better off being addicted to pills instead. I couldn't stop thinking about what I was going to do with my character next and what my next class will be etc. It got a bit out of hand. Luckily I'm not addicted like that anymore. I still play sometimes though.

Lineage 2. I was 15 at the time, and dropped school so I could play more. I used to have lists with people who were in line for the next epic jewel or good armor the guild farms/wins, and I always slept depending on boss spawns, so I was always online before an epic boss spawned to prepare the PvP and raid groups. All my life was pretty much ingame, and all my concerns were about ingame politics. Good times.

probably, and i am kinda sad to say, cod4.

dont get me wrong ive been addicted to alot of games, but in pure man hours i think i have played cod4 for probably 3x as much as any other game. i have played it since it came out, on and off.

i will always think other games are better, such as ff7, planescape torment, deus ex and so on, but you cant play those games for thousands of hours.

in cod4 i got to the level were i was averaging about 130-30 k/d per game then started using the knife only and being a ninja, this is like a completely different game. i slowly went from 1.1 k/d to about 3-1 playing on big 40-50 man pc servers. now i can win 9/10 games vs 50 people without ever shooting or throwing a frag. it has become more of an art for me so i still play. i think i have the world record(32) legitimate knife streak in cod4, and often get scores like 90-15 or 50-5

Call of Duty and United Offensive Multiplayer. Played them just about every day for hours at a time, and even got into a clan. Great bunch of guys and gals, and great times. But I had to force myself to stop playing it, because it was so addictive and started to get in the way of other things. So I had to nip it in the bud.

Gee.. that reminds me my guild master... he was from my city along with other guild members...and he was such an ass.

He promised us he will give us stuff if we will be a part of his guild and always go to party with him... everyday we asked him for stuff because we were really poor and he had tons of stuff, he never gave us anything:lol:

He pretty much used us like he pleased but we were too young and stupid to see this:? still was fun though :P

WoW definitely, i'd play until 5am then have to get up at 7am for school, i quickly realized it wasn't good for me and quit. Then i started again but far far more casual in that I could go for days without playing and i kept doing that for like a year and again quit but that's been 2 years i've quit now. Guild Wars 2 is hopefully the next game I get that much fun and addiction out of but hopefully far more controllable :P.

WoW - Thank god i had already finished school because my school work would of suffered. When it first came out my longest gaming session on it was 6am to 2am.

With GW2 coming out i think the same is going to happen.

Does anyone remember GunZ: The Duel? It was a TPS where your guy could rock pistols/SMGs and all carried katanas, then you buy clothes and weapons when you level up. Then you could run on walls and block bullets with your sword and stuff... When I was in middle school, I would play that game every friggin' day. During the summer, I would wake up EARLY to play. There is nothing I would wake up early now that I am older. If it's important, I stay up the whole night. It's way easier that way.

But yeah, GunZ, man. That is the only F2P game that really got me.

Elder Scrolls when I really get into it. I remember getting into Oblivion during an exam period. I spent like 50-60 hours on the game that week, and I still managed to get good grades. Normally I don't play for that long, though. Just once a year when I find this really good new game.

W.o.w.. ( Good days before and half through Burning Crusade) I would stay up for about 12-17 hours a day playing. My 9th grade year i missed 109 days of school i think and sometimes got up to go to school around 12pm. Sometimes i would hide outside so when my younger brothers come home they wouln't tell on me for skipping school and il walk in the house around 30 min after they got home lmao...I use to sit at my computer and sometimes during raids i would pee in bottles so i wouln't have to get up. I remember being ****** from my homeboys why i wouln't comeoutside and coming from growing up in the ghetto and being black people still think im lieing. i was around 15 when i found out about w.o.w im 23 years old now and cant stay in the game for more then 5 min.. its horrible and boring now..

i really wonder why the big difference betwen actually playing & just have the game open.

That means you had the game just opened (without playing) for 1000 hours, but how can that be?

Even if you been AFK, i still cant belive you did it for 1000 hours.:?

Every time I exit the game I get "hl2.exe has stopped working: [End Program]" While this message is still up it still has me in game, and the message stays up until i press end program. I play before i go to bed at night and i just click Quit and leave, so there is 8+ hours a night of gameplay, not to mention if i were to do it during the day.

If you add up the Time per class statistics, I have abuot 1200 hours.

FFXI was my first MMO and I loved the feel and look to the game. I was playing that at every chance I had. Then after a couple years a bunch of my Linkshell moved to WoW and I went as well... start the whole cycle over again. I went the PvP honor grind route back when there were ranks and it was tallied weekly. Not a lot of sleep was had.

While a ton of a fun, I'm thankful those days are over and I remember what the real world is like. :P

I was super addicted to Dawn of War II: Retribution's multiplayer when it came out. I got really competitive and played for hours every night, but stopped after 100 hours or so.

I also went through a phase of heavy L4D 2 addiction with several Vs. games daily. I still play is pretty regularly, but not as much as last year. about 325 hous and counting on that one.

Gee.. that reminds me my guild master... he was from my city along with other guild members...and he was such an ass.

There was no way that would happen in an L2 clan. Having your healers geared up is extremely important for mass PvP. Plus, there's sepcific items for each class, for example a healer won't have much use for a ring that gives critical damage, but an archer on the other hand, will benefit greatly. We had clear lists of who played what class and what he needed to maximise the efficiency of his class in mass PvP.

As of now it's just strategy games in general, like Dawn of War 2, and now Shogun 2.

GunZ was a ----ed up mess.. idk how it is now. but that game is jsut a design disgrace.. its a controlled frenzy and i dont enjoy watching it played either.
