Fianl fantasy X is better. I stoped playing 12 around the 20 hour mark I pretty much hated everything about that game. As for what game is longer.... I hear 12 is longer, Ive played FFX about five times now and every time I finish it around the 45 50hrs mark. I hear XII makes 70 easily.... again I could of heard wrong.
FFX is juvenile so therefore XII is better. "Fans" are too uneducated to let go of the past and accept that Matsuno saved Final Fantasy. Ivalice is what made FF good again and any game part of the Ivalice world is automatically good (yes FFTA is good).
ffx is longer and superior in every way i got 350 hours on ffx and havent finished it yet (with side quests), and ffxii i got like 2 more side quests to do and im at 132 hours...
Even though FFXII has a"Gambit system",I think FFX is better because it has part one and two and has a longer story it took me I guess 234 hours of playing it.

Yes Im sure the name of the world made the entire game better, makes perfect sense... made a crappy game? Change the name of the place your characters live! Problem solved.
Reading what you said again there is one thing I can assume you meant. You loved 12's new appraoch to the series, liked the world and having liked a previous FF game in the same location you some how 'logically' formed the conclusion that it must be the location.
I sound like an ass... not trying to be, but you need to be realistic.
Those 'fans' may actually be very well educated, perhaps not all, but a lot would be. It's called a valid opinion.
I love FF games and JRPGs in general, and I think X is better hands-down.
Better characters, less cliche storyline, much more potential gameplay hours (if you're into mastering sphere grids and beating all the arena bosses, plus final weapons). XII had merits, but the battle system really detracts from it. Gambits are absurdly optional and, while there are a few fun fights, you do spend most of them wondering what it would be like to watch your party do something other than circle your opponent and swing wildly.
Plus, the quickenings are intensely mundane compared to the overdrives (the limit break systems from the two games).
Not to detract from 12, cause it is totally worth playing, but if you have to go with just one of them, it'd have to be X.
Gameplay wise FFXII is MILES ahead...,they've modernized it,by adding elements of MMORPG.Yeah there are some not so good parts,but they kind of give the game newer feel and might have been better if they had been refined a bit.But story wise,the game doesnt have the same driving force.Maybe because the characters werent as well fleshed out and the character interactions were down to a minimum...and the main hero till now(I'm not done with the game yet..nearly done though..last boss) hasnt had a really powerfull role in the game..something was missing...just cant lay a finger,the story could've been properly put..
FFX has a a story that'll make you feel like finishing it asap,to know what happens in the end..but game play wise it lacks some new elements brought to the table by FFXII..ike the new battle system
So you've gotta decide if you want a good story and an ok game or a good game with a...different story..(I wouldnt call it bad..)
FFXII is definetly longer. I was 68 hours into it last nite and hadnt beaten it yet when all of a sudden my save file became corrupted on a NYKO 8mb mem card. I HATE NYKO!! It took me 62 hours to finish FFX and while i liked X more at the begining of my XII play sessions, XII has def turned me around. I hated the combat at first but now think it is more satisfying, love the graphics, character, i pretty much love this game.. AND NOW I GET TO PLAY THROUGH IT FROM THE FRIGGIN BEGINNIING YIPPEEE!!! I actually would rather not but im going to. I have about 5 other games i havnt even touched yet bc i was trying to finish FFXII. By the way does anyone know if i can retrieve or fix my corrupt file?????
FFX is better, I'm only at the 40 hour mark in FFXII but I'm nowhere near as interested and involved in the game. And to the FFX is juvenile comment, you need to elaborate because the entire game was overall the best experience I'd had playing an FF game up to that point, and I've played all of them. Just because the game is in Ivalice doesn't make it better ;) It's just another fallback Square is using on its series to milk the classics.
