The 360 is an overrated machine full of gimmicks and is the prime example of why the next gen sucks. There are a few things you should know before giving that bastard Bill Gates more money.

1) You virtually need to have the thing hooked up to Xbox Live in order for you to get game updates. So you should have a high speed connector ready. The stupid wireless network adaptor is 100 dollars.

2) You need a real account in order to fully experience Xbox Live. Which costs another 50 bucks for the year.

3) On top of that, you may consider on getting Microsoft points, these are just like Disney dollars. You buy anything marketplace related with these points. This is the evil that is the microtransaction of the next gen. Sure it may not sound like a lot of money, but it adds up in the long run. Dance Dance Revolution Universe has 10 songs on the disc that can only be accessed if you pay for them online. It's not required, I just find them to be such a stupid scam these microtransactions.

4) A wireless controller will cost you 50 bucks a pop, 30 for a recharge kit. Only 2 wired controllers can be played on a single machine.

5) Standards games cost 60 bucks new.

6) There is no other reason but to get the Premium 400 dollar version of the console. You will need a HDD. But, those bastards at M$ are at it again with a new black 360 with 120GB HDD. Premium my ass, thanks M$ for ruining video games.

7) You can't play the thing on a standard definition set. You need HDTV. I think the Premium has component cables included, a 30 dollar value.

So there you have it, you can get rid of your PS2, which I'm sure has serviced you quite well with 45 games. To buy a console with so many additions needed. We haven't even gotten to the games yet, and this console is no star in the games.

I would say keep your PS2, and your collection of games, and save up for a 360, you'll have time to get the current games later, and they'll probably be platinum hits.  There's no rush to pick up a 360.  Secondly, 45 PS2 games, that's a great collection, and a big investment when you think of what you paid for all those, especially compared to what you'd get trading them.  I only have 29 games for my PS2, I wouldn't sell my collection.  My friend has a 360, but not many games, so I actually end up bringing my PS2 to his place and playing RE4, Tekken 5, God of War, and sometimes we even play Twisted Metal 2 from the PS1.  I think it's great to keep a collection, and look back later.  See the progression of the industry.

Keep your ps2 and get a 360 when you get the cash. The 360 is by far the best next gen system and has some great games. But the ps2 has more great games atm.

I agree with these other guys.  Forty-five games is a lot, and you should probably keep them.  Try to save up for a 360.  It's good, but there's a bunch of games coming out later that you should save for.  PS2 has been in my opinion, just as good, if not better in its time than the Nintendo 64.  Both great systems.  I say keep the PS2 and just wait.

It's not often I agree with 2deluxe but this is one of those exceptions.  I say...

Wait and save your money for the PS3.  Chances are, even if you did get a 360, after all the upgrades, you will spend more on the 360 then you would on a PS3...

Simply because the PS3 does so much more right out of the box than a fully upgraded 360 will ever do.  And that's how I justify the initial price of the PS3.

Sure, right now the PS3 is waiting on games but they are coming and before we know it, there will be more than we can handle once again.

Let Me correct you on some of this.

1. you dont have to have a wireless adapter to get on the net

2. okay $50 bucks isnt that much

3. not everybody uses MS points, some ppl just prefer to play other ppl

4. sorry but get updated a wireless controller dropped buy $10 bucks

5. thats why there's a thing called used games

6.  not everybody is gonna buy the new and remoddifyed xbox 360

7. you can play xbox360 on standard tv, dont give me that crap

8. make sure you actually own a xbox360 before you decide to rant about it

my opinion keep your ps2 and save up for one of the above

Why wait on the PS3 its $600 bucks. If he bought the premium what upgrades wuold he need then, none, maybe the backwards compatability, but thats free and he saved $200 bucks. Tell me for one what a ps3 does that a xbox360 cant, i own a PS3 and a Xbox360, so give me the low down. they both have there differences, but it doesnt make one better than the other, just because it has one thing better about it, they both can do stuff that the other cant do. They both will get games that will make the sales dominate for that particular console, but it still doesnt make it better.

for all means this should be in system wars thanks to 2deluxe

And if anybody else wants to add to this statement CHECK this page out look at the ratings of this game on the xbox360 and look at the ratings on the PS3

yea i know this is one game, but some ppl take thier opinions (i ain't pointing any fingers- 2deluxe) to far on this site

If i were you i would definitely keep my PS2 and save cash for 360. i have 95 games for ps2 and i haven't sold none of them. Instead i still play them again and again cuz they are so good. My advice..save and keep your PS2. its probably one of the best system ever and you won't regret doing it. But you shouldn't rush to get a 360. Wait and save some money for it and then get it. There will be some really awesome games for 360. Huxley, Halo 3 and in my opinion the biggest one. Quake Wars. So save a lot of cash and then get 360 with some awesome games.

First of all my dear I was clearly talking about the worst possible scenario for one throwing away such a marvelous system over a terrible gimmick and a crap follow up to the Xbox. Playing Xbox 360 games on a SD is worthless and only degrades the quality of the visuals. Just like the PS3, it's meant to to played on high def, playing on S-Video, Composite, or Antenna will make for a poor experience. Used games only save you a measly 5 bucks most of the time and sometimes, you gotta suck it up and pay full price. Thank you for the new price of the wireless controller which is much more reasonable. The Japanese audience got it right once more, the 360 is already losing to the PS3 as we speak. Not even the gore fest that is Gears of War can save the thing. As you can see, I'm still pissed at M$ for killing off the Xbox so early just to concentrate on its new toy. The Xbox finally got its foot down by 2005, only to be killed on the spot when they decided to show off the Xbox 360, on MTV (degenerates). The smartest thing Sony has done last year is to ensure that the PS2 will remain the best console in the planet. They need to, their days as the king are numbered.

Well, the TC stated that he could not afford a PS3, so I suggested waiting and saving since he obviously has some interest in the console.  I wasn't trying to tell him what to buy and I wasn't trying to turn this into any kind of system wars topic but I do agree with some of what 2deluxe says in this thread.  And I do agree, 2deluxe is quite often overly negative in his posts, which is why I rarely agree with him.

As for the "low down", out of the box, is the 360 capable of wireless ethernet?  No.  Does it come with chargable batteries?  No.  Does it come with a charger for those chargable batteries?  No.  Does it come with free online?  No.(Talking Gold membership here to enable online play).  Does it come with the essential HD?  Premium yes, Core no.  If you indeed have both systems, do I really have to list more of what the PS3 has and can do, out of the box?

All these features cost more money once added.  Are you forced to buy them? No but the real question is, will you buy them to take full advantage of your new toy?  For me, the PS3, offers more bang for my buck out of the box.  My husband spent more than $600 on his 360 when he got his, so I do have an idea of what I'm talking about here.  And I'm not even going to get into the quality the 360, other than to say after owning 2 defectives...

To end this, I'd also like to add that some of those extra features that the PS3 offers are actually features me and my husband want to use.(ie: the wireless ethernet)  So why should I pay more for features I want on the 360?

You mentioned games... Unfortunately for me, I have yet to try anything on PS3 or 360 that interest me, with the exception of a few select titles.  I'm still waiting for games that I want to play and none of the "next gen, this gen" systems are doing that right now.(for me)

Save your money, dont even bother with the PSP, so you can buy a xbox 360 or PS3, your choise. but DO NOT sell all of the best games of the Ps2, they will get very hard to find and this are the best games for the best console ever, (before you say anithing, i am a nintendo fan, but the Ps2 just kicks so much ass).

I own the PSP. Gaming-wise, it is very much an extension of the gaming experience you get on your PS2. There are just a few PSP games worth noting that don't have an equivalent on PS2, so you must ask yourself whether you want a new gaming experience or just a portable version of the gaming experience you already get now. I want portability, and I love my PSP; but I use it mostly as a digital photo album, movie player, and then as a gaming system for two superior releases of Worms and Lemmings.

If you want a new gaming experience, and you've already exhausted all PS2 has to offer, then you need to be thinking 360 vs PS3 vs Wii. You don't need HDTV for 360 or Wii. PS3 really needs it, or so I've been told by owners. Think about what exclusive games 360 has right now and what are coming. If you want to play those, get a 360. If the exclusives don't thrill you, then you should think about 360 vs PS3. 360 is a very good system. It's not gimmicky anymore than the PS3 is, and Xbox Live subs do prefer that online gamng environment to that of the PS2.

Unless you get the full system, the cost of building up piecemeal from an Xbox 360 Core system will run you above the cost of the full system. The PS3 does offer more features for your money, and it has some nice exclusives of its own. Good luck.

it's pretty obvious ain't it!? and 2deluxe did a pretty goodjob proposing all the gimmicks and possible extra fees... 1st off.. the psp will cost you way less... plus you keep the ps2.. so thas two consoles.. it's all about portable nowadays.. there's even articles on how the portables will take over!!! jus think.. pay hundreds of dollars to buy a big bulky thing to play at home... or get a sleek psp n gameshare wit a stranger on the go.. play wireless FREE with friends.. no split screen.. and theres plently of other reasons why you should get a psp instead of an xbox360.. but i can't think of em at the moment because it's late.. oh and God of War PSP... i'm just gonna leave you with that... God of War PSP...
