Well, Level 5 made two great action rpg, like Rogue Galaxie and Radiata Stories, if you din't try these title.... you missed something ! ;)

Radiata Stories is by Tri-Ace. Dark Cloud 2 is by Level 5.
On topic, Rogue Galaxy, Dark Cloud 2, Kingdom Hearts Series, .hack series and the Tales of series. Radiata Stories is just like Star Ocean so skip if you didnt like it.
KIngdom hearts 1 is excellent. Kingdom Hearts 2 is only good if you have not played the first game, it sucks and has lost much of its charm. Dark CLoud 2, Rogue Galaxy, Bully. Psychonauts and Beyond Good and Evil if you can find them.
I see many people call "action RPG" to most action-adventure games like God of War and Devil May Cry. Just to make it clear: action RPG is not an action game wich follows a storyline, its an actual RPG game (that is, with all the pros and cons of the RPG genre) that has a battle system and/or a "moving trough the world" system that allows certain actions to happen, such as battling, riding stuff or perfoming any other rather unusual activity for an RPG, just because it happens as an action rather than a command input by the player.
My humble opinion, by the way, and Rogue Galaxy rocks.
i cant believe that anybody say persona 3 im sad maybe im the only one that like this game all my friends say its boring but for me is a masterpiece of rpg´s oh and i agree whit everybody those are good games

Persona 3 isn't an action RPG, is just an standar RPG, a good one under that classification, good looking, with nice voice acting, but not too innovative if you ask me. One dungeon that grows and grows eternally on changing just the pattern of the floors? Sorry, I can't consider that other than lazyness.
This wasn't a bad game, but I've said it before and I'll say it again. The voice acting is bad enough to make you envy the deaf. Even if you turn it off, you still have to put up with their stupid battle quotes. Almost enough to ruin the game, for me at least.
