this is for you. the hard core gamers. i'm curently working on a vs fighting game and i want everyone's response on what do you think is a must for a vs fighting game. i want ya'll to love it,  so i want some feed back. i plan to give the people what they need. so, what is a must in a vs fighting game?

 easy combos, simple controls.

make sure none of the combos or moves simply dominate over all of the other controls or fighters

Balanced characters. All of them need to be equally good, if used by a skilled player. Or at least as much as possible.

I think a good rule of thumb for any game is easy to pick up and enjoy, difficult to master.

All the above plus cool looking characters, sweet moves/specials... and what I HATE the most about fighting games is: CHEAP BOSSES!!! No cheap bosses!!! :evil:

fire balls dammit!! i want a goddamm haduken now! and yes, no cheap bosses. Also the mechanic that was used in some characters for Soul Caliber 2+3, where a certain stance of the character unlocked a move set. and a character editor. And please the weapons thing is paramount. maybe both unarmed and armed combat interchangable dependant on character style, dress, location. even midfight. And a more RPG feel, actual points for specific attributes instead of a class system. I want complete character control over every thing. Also some kind of training, not just practise, but have a list of well researched fighting styles that have to be attained by specific tasks, in specific locations, with specific NPC's teaching you (think temples and masters) . its not as if your short on material, even if you just stuck to Gong Fu, youd have over 300 styles. Add a global component and youve got thousands. These should be availabe for all characters, not just "the chinese guy does X, the english guy wrestles, etc. You could base a initial style on this, but allow for change as characters choose locations for fights. please please, ive been waiting for a truely all encompassing fighting game, one that breaks all boundries. guns, fists, feet, mystical powers all in one.

the zero one: i think you might like this game, it is a mix of all "guns, fists, feet, mystical powers all in one." by the way as of now the name of the game is "Blood Spillers" or "Blood Spillas". and GreenGoblin2099: yes i do, i have 50 characters so far. i was gonna stop at 50 but now that i'm there, i'm thinking maybe a few more. all the characters are gonna have their own fighting style and own finishing/special move of certain people, which makes with 50 characters 250 different specials. i could tell ya'll more about the game but i can't at this present time. i will be able to later on in the future though once the demo is complete. also another Q i need answered is: 3D like soul caliber or 2D like old street fighter/mortal combat?

a good amount of moves for each character, alot of different moves,a good amount of characters about 30 that are equally good,and something that would make you want to play the game over and over

Give everyone a good fighting style with the ability to juggle in the air during combos. Make it so that characters get battle damaged sweat, blood, clothes being torn apart, etc. Give everyone an ultimate finishing move. I know all this sounds familiar, but maybe you can take it to the next level.

SImplicity... but for the gamers gamer... Intense combo's as welll. I am tired of non Violent fighters too... Im sorry but if you take an axe to someones skull they dont fall over they bleed..

massive and fast combo skills, also scenarios are a huge attribute in a fighting game ...it has to be somewhat "unique", using camera angles to focus on surroundings and fighters as well, not saying to use a "matrix-like" shots im saying something similar but more innovative, if your fighting game will have female characters, their outfits "do" make a difference cuz lets face facts s3x sales

do make sure to use a user friendly and high tech using glass-cyber neo colored menu, something that i doubt had not been done before, let your imagination run wild, anyway i wish you the best of luck on your future projects

Gotta love a final move.  I suggest the creation of a move that each character has their own significant "finishing move"

It would be awesome to know the obliteration your about to put upon your opponent!
