I'm guessing no, but I wanted to import one of the Japanese Taiko games. I just didn't want to import it without knowing if it would work or not. I didn't see it in the stickies either, so a quick answer would be great.

EDIT: Ugh, there's already another one of these on the first page. How did I miss that? That one still has no answers either, so one is still appreciated.

Sorry guys but the answer is NO. Anyway , there is a way to play japanese game on your NTSC PS2 by using swap magic(I recommended this method) or mod chip ( don't try it unless you know how to do it ) . It's illegal , so try it with your own risk.

This is kind of a long stretch, and maybe I shouldn't be asking this on the PS2 forums, but the PS3, it uses a PS2 emulator, correct? So would that play Japanese PS2 games?

I don't know about the Euro version but the Japanese and US PS3's still don't play other region PS2 games.

Just ge a swap magic. it allows you to boot up games from your region and then switch disks to what you actually want to play.
*Also works for backups

PS2 games played on the PS3 are still locked out with the region codes, what changed is that with PS3 games the publishers now have the OPTION to not regiocode theyr games. That basicly means nothing will change save for a handful of budget games.
