Depends on you... if you don't mind getting used games go for them, because otherwise it would be quite a lot money to get all the good games you've been missing all these years.

as of right now you must put all your power to own these: Sotc, MGS3, RE4 and GoW.... after you get these look for other ones

Everything That Was mention in previous posts as well Kingdom Hearts 1 n 2,timesplitter 2 n 3,Shadow Of Collusus,Star ocean Till The End Of Time n the list goes on and on

Seeing how no one has mentioned a sports title.  I will.  Tiger Woods 2002.  That is my favorite title for the ps2 and was the only reason for having a ps2.

 If not.  I did get Omnisha and found that to be a nice game.  It's in the same direction as R.E. 4 except with a sword.

Resident Evil 4. It's 20$ and it's the greatest game EVER. Once you beat it, you still have alot of stuff to do. Complete all the side quests? The game is insanly challenging so you can try to challenge yourself. I can finally kill all bosses except El Lago, Salazar, and Verduo with a knife! Yay. It makes you feel good when you beat PRO mode. GET RESIDENT EVIL 4. 20 $ GREATEST GAME EVER IM TELLING YOU, IT'S THE PERFECT GAME!

RE4 is great and all but GoW2 and POP: TSoT are the perfect ps2 games :P

Grand Theft Auto  San Andreas, it's awesome, you can get it new for $20 and you'll be playing it forever. I have about 120 hours in on the game and I'm about 80% complete.

There are lots of great games, GOW 1 & 2, DMC series, MGS series, GTA, FF X & XII, Zone of the Enders 1 & 2, RE 4, I'm sure I'm forgetting some but there are so many great games for it.

Great: God of war 1&2, RE4, Grand theft auto (san andreas is best, vice city and 3 are not bad), Guitar Hero 1&2, FF10,12

Good: SSX (3/on tour), Tony Hawk, DDR, Katamari (any of them), burnout 3, kingdom hearts 1&2, twisted metal black, shadow of colossus
