Deception for its konquest, Armageddon for its character creator, and shaolin monks for its combat engine. And all of them because of the MK history/universe/story. I like all those mortal kombats for specific reasons. I hate MK as a fighting game but they rock in other area's which always make them worth getting. If they ever totally scrap their piece of crap fighting engine and rework it, MK could easily become one of the best fighter games because the other fighters like soul calibur and tekken dont have some of the other qaulities that MK has like an awesome storyline or fatalities.
If you are talking about specifically for the PlayStation 2, then I would have to say Mortal Komat: Armageddon. It was the worst game in terms of storyline and extras, but the gameplay was the most refined and I think it played the best out of Deadly Alliance, Deception and itself.
I have a really strong attachement to Deadly Alliance for some reason though. The intro movie is fantastic and the voice actor for Raiden did a really good job. I also love the fact that it was the first (really good) 3D Mortal Kombat game and it had a lot of the original old-school characters, and it just had this really cool feeling about it. Although it does have some noticeable flaws however.
