according to the reviews and such, they say it's awful and you always start from level 1 per area or something, haven't tried it yet, though i would really want to try.. :D

1. yes, dawn of mana is worth getting, but you have to understand it's nothing like the other mana games, and it tends to have camera angle problems frequently. In the end I would wait for it's first price cut personally.

2. yes, you do start off at lvl 1 after every chapter but there's only 4 lvls so this is just a bad note that people tend to over emphasize to make the game sound terrible.  Also it is getting farely bad reviews and that's pushing people away also.

and

3. DO NOT GET THIS GAME IF YOU HAVE ENJOYED THE OTHER MANA GAMES IT WILL KILL YOU UNLESS YOU ARE A DIE HARD FAN...this game is like FF12 to the rest of the series its got a lot of new ideas and it's going to get mixed reviews, mostly bad ones from those who have played the rest of the mana series.

If it is only 4 levels then it is not so bad, it is a shame no one pointed this out in reviews, they just said you start from scratch. My thinking was there goes 25 levels or so. Even with a few niggling camera problems, a price cut should warrant a purchase I assume.

for me.. is a disappointment...
the gameplay is quite troublesome..
especially when you have to build up your strength, health and mana each time you start new chapter...
the camera... owhh!! very bad...
but the graphic, very nice.. beautiful.. the cutscenes is great...
i bought Odin Sphere .. it's much better game than Dawn of Mana ... quite an original gameplay i've ever played..

yeah i picked up Odin Sphere asn well and I'd agree, I love the game and I can't put it down but god the difficulty spikes are ridiculous, comparing only to Stella Deus in Atlus game titles.

Thank you for an unbiased view-point: I kind of wondered if it was being bashed for the whole Secret of Mana comparison.

I liked it a lot.  If u like the mana series then buy it.  If it loooks bad dont.  Dont just listen to a review and say it sucks.  The game is great the only bad thing is lv reset but it kinda makes the game easier.

Oh lord, please don't buy it. By all means, rent it. I'm all for everyone playing more J-RPGs, honestly. It's just not worth 50 dollars. I'd only buy it at 20 or lower.

lol sorry can't help you there, since I've gotten hooked on Odin Sphere I haven't had DOM back in my ps2 since I bought it so I'm only roaming and killing in chapter 2 and just reached the first save point.
