End of main story or 100% (all unlockables done or secret areas visited)

I may have "finished"alot games but I didnt 100% most of them.

To me once the main story line its finished its finished and on to the next game.

Yep, credits and you are done. Getting 100% in a game seems more mundane to me than anything. 99 of each item when I only need 3 and so on is not my idea of fun. I would much rather get as much as I could from it without compulsively going for 100% and then move on to another game.

finishing is at least making it to the ending.

Completing it 100 % means getting everything, doing everything and beating everything possible.

Finishing a game to me is beating the last boss and finishing the story. Completing a game is beating all the side quests, collecting all the items, seeing all there is to see in the game etc.

Finishing the main story and getting any ending that isn't the worst ending.

Technically, i would have to agree with most and say its over when the credits roll. But for me, i think that 100% is TRULY finishing a game, and i dont consider it beaten until i do so.

If I really like a game then I want the 100% bench mark, if I only like it a game or worse the the credits on easy is all I need.

i go by 100%, if there's more to do that's actually worthwhile then the game isn't finished as far as i'm concerned...there is a limit to what is worthwhile though...things like maxing out items when you can carry a ridiculous amount and it'd take forever to max them all out is rather pointless though, as you'll never use those items anyway...as long i've got alot of each item (or if the max is low then the max of them) then i'm happy...

Finishing a Game - playing until the credits.

Completing a Game (a.k.a 100%) - doing everything that can be done.

I usually just finish a game, but if I really like the game I try to do everything.

To be honest if the game doesn't interest me enough then instead of completing it again and again I'd just search the web and find out what happens that way. I'm reminded of Abe's Oddesy for some reason

yup...most of them in fact :| unfortunately i dn have as much time as i used to so longer games will take me weeks to finish now...used to be completing most games that are shorter than 40 hours in a week with ease...it's surprisingly rare that extra unlockables are difficult to get...GTA is one of those games that is very long winded when it comes to the extras...i normally get everything still though...well...everything but the easter egg signs...normally i only spot a few of them, they're useless anyway so i dnt see any reason to look for them...

Finishing a game is finishing it, ending the story. Now completing a game is different. I havent completed many games, only some RPGs or the RE, ZoE, and some other qaction and RPGs.

If there's a story, finishing it is finishing the game, though if a better ending would be easy enough to get, I'll sometimes go for that.

I think it depends on the game.

Something like GTA, GT4, GoW, finishing it is when you get 100%

end of main story. That means defeating the final boss, or completeing the final mission using only cintent that is unlocked by default

It's when you defeat the final boss to watch the credits.

Seeing the credits is good enough. I dont tend to go for 100%..seems pointless unless I absolutely love the game.

Some games have credits that starts to roll before you even get half-way through the game(Ar Tonelico, Contra:Hard Corps).

I normally do all the optional missions as I go through the storyline, but if it gets way too difficult, I just ignore it.

So I guess I just do the storyline and any bonus missions I run into.

If I really like the game though, I'll try to finish it 100%.

Beat the final boss androll credits... unless there are multiple endings. For multiple endings, some are better than others, especially if there is an "easy" route (Castlevania for GBA and DS). In those cases, the "good" ending counts in my mind. Or a third qualification would be that the game becomes so infuriating due to poor control or unrelenting difficulty that you break the disc into many small pieces.
