I was thinking of buying 1, 2, and 3 before I get 4. I have never played any of em, not sure if its worth it..... but I found this set for $30:

What do you guys think? I like Ninja Giaden and God of War so do you recommend me picking up the DMC's. Sorry to intrude TC :P
Stop saying skip DMC2! If I'm paying for it I'll dam well be playing it. How bad can it be, its part of the story isn't it? What is so drastically different and horrible that the game should be totally left aside and disregarded? Also does anyone know if its the special edition of DMC3 in that box set? I can't tell...Rob_101
What people mean by "skip" DMC2 is that don't pay so much attention to it. Beat the game and be done with it. Its not bad compared to many other action games, but when compared to DMC1 and DMC3.... its utter garbage. Why? The combat system and gameplay has been too simplified. Enemies die so easily that you can literally spam Ebony and Ivory all day and still beat the game(exceptsome specific bosses). Dante is so damn powerful that it is a joke, making the game too easy and not having a challenge. Something the DMC series is all about.
The annivesary box set comes with DMC3: SE. Don't worry.
quite obviously they'd go 1-4...but .... I've heard Devil may cry 2 isn't worth playing. 1 is awesome, because its the origional, and 3 is good (latest thing out) , whatever I'll probably get the boxset, its my birthday saturday so I get whatever I want! lol jk.gamer_marrik
it goes DMC3 DMC1 Dmc4 DMC2
who cares how it goes they shud just bring back vergil man idc. make him the main character in his own game....whoa sry to go off on a tangent...i thought dmc 4 came after dmc2? guess i was wrong, deosnt matter neway, in the boxset its
DMC3 -> DMC1 -> DM2
thats all that shud matter atm :D
Dont play Devil May Cry 1, its really boring, I dont know about Devil May Cry 2, but you must play Devil May Cry 3, get the Special Edition of DMC3if you can.millencolinI got DMC1 a month ago (which is 6years later from it's release) and I enjoyed it!! it was awesome

also dmc 2 isnt al that bad from my experience, and no i didnt see dmc 3SE in that box set.
I have and have beated DMC 1&3 and they were awosome, you should definitly pick it up.
Havent play DMC 2.
Im the same as you man. i want to eventually try 2, but everyone just says stay away from it. You def cannot go wrong with the boxset tho. 1&3 are sweet. It would be cool if 4 brought back Nelo Angelo. He was awesome.
You guys have to pick up the 5th anniversary collection if you want the SE and all games non greatest hits.here
here
you guys have the wrong boxset that one came out before SE.
gilv3r
Do you think its worth it tho? It would be like $20 more if I was to buy the 5th anniversary collection. Are the extras in the SE really that good? Like would I regret not buying the SE?

You wont be able to play as vergil in the SE edition of DMC 3 so yes u will regret it.
this serie is really awesome to pick up i think i gonna imported the box set very soon as well.
then i got all PAL/US/*** version including DMC1 with better framerate then the pal version is uber slow o_O
The order: DMC3, DMC1, DMC4, then DMC 2.
I agree with many on this board... Devil May Cry is a great game! It is one of the top 10 PS2 games of all time (Metacritic.com). DMC three is great but the original is very, very cool. Playing DMC after playing DMC3 will make one seem like an inferior game when that is not the case at all. I recommend the following order......DMC1, DMC3, DMC2 and DMC4 when it arrives.
By the way, you could play as three or four different characters in DMC 2. It also first introduced the Bloody Palace in the series. This game is more focused toward brutal fighting gameplay. Less of a storyline yet more of the same. All three offer varying power-up abilities and each offer something different to the player.
