OK guys which is better - Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awekening or Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition, because the Devil May Cry 5th Anniversary Collection contains the special edition one not Dante's Awakening and according to GS the Special Edition is not as good because it had 0.4 difference in the rating so guys which one is better or is there hardly any difference because I am planning on get DMC1, 2 & 3, but if the DMC 3: Special Edition is not much different then I may aswell get the Devil May Cry 5th Anniversary Collection .... so which is better DMC 3: DA or DMC 3: SE

GS doesn't know squat.

I mean, honestly.. SE corrected the difficulty issues in DA.. AND it added a load of new content, including playing as Vergil. VERGIL. Nuff said.

Anyway, I liked the original for the difficulty being so demanding.. even on Normal it was killer. Definitely awesome, but only to the true gamer.

But SE introduces a good load of new content that lengthens the original game.. and the difficulty correction will most likely get a better reception among more gamers.. I'm surprised GS didn't rate it higher for Easy mode in SE being a cake walk.. since they bashed the game for difficulty and not being able to complete the first few missions in any less than 3 days.

At any rate, my vote goes to SE.. more content, corrected difficulty and all at a Greatest Hits price. That's awesome in my book.

Special Edition is better much better. It has lots of extra content, and a better learning curve thanks to the corrected difficulty. And for the hardcore players that says that easy is too easy, and normal is a walk in the park... Change the difficulty !! Hard and DMD are still available in this edition, so you will still have a place for challenge if that is what you are looking for. Don't pay attention to the GS score. It is logical that a special edition ranks lower than the original. It is not like the reinvented anything or updated the engine... They "just" added extra content...

Sorry guys but I have to with the original, even though I have the Special Edition version. Reason being because I believe that the original version in my opinion had the true difficulty. I don't believe that the difficulty in the Special Edition version is "corrected", maybe "toned down" is a better way to say it. In my opinion, if you couldn't play the original, you just couldn't, simple as that. Only reason I got the Special Edition version is because it was cheap and it had the "extra" content. Playing as Vergil however, isn't much of bonus from my perspective.

Special editions rating was actually effected by gamespots's rating system. Which they rate the game compared to the other games that are released during that time. But since the special edition is the exact same graphics and whatnot as Dante's awakening, it got a lower rating, and usually gamespot gives a lower rating to any special edition of ANY game. Also, I would believe that the SE is better because it is the same game with more extras, and who wouldn't want that?

I don't know what to say here, i only have Dante's awakening. But you should definitely get the 5th anniversary edition, just because whatever differences there could be between the 2 DMC3s are not big enough deny your self such a sweet 3 game package. But if u don't care about saving dough or playing DMC1 (which is really 2) or DMC2 (which is really, well u get the point) then grab the special edition,  it actually might have great content (hopefully something to make the game easier. damn it was hell on my fingers.)

Never played Special Edition, but I got through most of the original, that game was hard, not rediculous, but hard, I uttered a few curse words after getting my ass handed to me more then a few times. On topic, if SE has a toned down difficulty so I can actually complete the game, then I'd prolly perfer SE

Im a Dante fan so Im going with DA, mostly because the difficulty made me really pay attention to what I was doing and gonna do. I still havent tried SE, its arriving my home in a few days, but I dont like in action games like DMC a tonned down diff. You lose the challenge

lolz I say buy the Special pack...

Honestly its 3 full games for a wicked price... sure the difficulty isnt as high... but then all you have to do is up the anti... lolz.

Play the harder difficulty to prove your worth.

SE got a lower rating because it was released later so the graphics weren't as good anymore. Seriously, there's no reason to pick DA over SE.

There won't be a UK release and the US release is hard to find by now.
