Are todays games more challenging then yesterdays. For me personally old school games are more challenging then todays games. Games like the ghost n goblins franchise and the splatter house series are extremely brutal.
Games are way easier now than in the past. It's rare to find insanely hard games now like Ninja Gaiden and DMC3. I don't think I'm as good as when I was a kid because games are genearlly easier now lol.
doesnt stop the games from being fun, but yeah, the challenge has gone down. unless you try to play metal gear solid 3 without firing a shot AND being seen. thats a challenge.

lol... I've done it without triggering an alarm. But without firing a shot, that's almost impossible.
personally, i think games are getting too easy, and when they are difficult, alot of the time it's because of bad game design (unresponsive controls, bad camera, cheap AI, etc.)
easy or hard, it is the player choise, the problem comes when the hard dificults are not apropiately rewarded. I hate to pass hard games just for receive the memories of the painful experience.

same here, games in the past required alot of practise and u had to master them, most game nowadays let you get by easy, but games have changed

Games today are all about style & flashy graphics. Good gameplay with challenging difficulties are long gone. I miss the golden age of gaming.

Dying from falling down a cliff because the game failed to register that you hit the jump button is not good gameplay.

yeah games nowadays might be quit easier i remember when i was a kid playing Tomba 2 now that was a tough game actually it was too hard to be true but it was extremly awesome did any one here other than me play that game it was one of my psone top 5

Yeah that game was,,HARD,,i remember reacjhing alot in it,,then i quit,,but i played againg and it was better,,yeah those games were tough and cool
I think 2D sidescrollers are harder than 3D action games in general. My first console was a SNES, and I pretty much only played sidescrollers on that. That also goes for the GameBoy, but on my GBC I only played Pokemon, on my GBA I only played turn-based RPGs, and on my DS I played... weird touchscreen based games. Before I got a GBC, I had a PS1, so over the years, I kinda lost my skill in 2D sidescrollers. I've played through all the modes in DMC3 and never felt it was hard, but in Ghosts & Goblins, I never got past level 2.
