Ok, I've now seen two stores with new copies of this rare game and was wondering what some players may have thought about it.  Is it worth the $59.99(Canadian pricing)?

I get the impression from videos and such, that the game has a lot of humor in it but is also on the darker side of things.  Does this game take it'self seriously at any time or is the whole game that kind of cutesie funny?

I appreciate any help here, as I'm kind of on the fence.  I like humor in my RPG's but I also like them to have their serious side.

Well, I decided to go ahead and get it anyway.  I tried it out for a few hours last night and I'm already loving the game.  I can see how Disgaea could be very addicting.

Thanks for your opinions everyone.

Terami

It should come with a warning label, and its own 12-step rehab program.

As a heads-up to others still looking for the original Disgaea... it used to be quite rare, but thankfully it was indeed re-released by Nippon Ichi Software at the end of 2006. Since then, it has been turning up in various retail channels again, and since the re-issue it has been available brand new, directly from the source, for just $29.99. It's sold via Atlus' own shop, and also by NIS America's recently revamped store. The old NISA storefront has very recently changed over to a whole new official site for NIS games, anime, and other products... a store which will be absurdly familiar to anyone who has played these games:
