I think so because of the fact that the PS2 is one of the greatest consoles of all time.

I think it'll probably continue to live until late 08...but after that, the market will move on most likely

It's hard to say. I just hope they keep selling the games for a while after that.

i doubt it. the PS1 only lived like 2 years after the PS2 came out iirc. then again i doubt the PS1 was as big as a hit as the PS2 was/is.

It definitely could, especially if you consider how horribly PS3 is doing right now.

I think it's possible. If the PS2 keeps making enough games to keep it in production, I think it can live a 10 year lifespan. Some argue the release of the PS3 shortens it, but I think if the PS2 continues to beat the PS3 long enough, it can pull through easily.

There are more than 120 million PS2's in the world right now. About 5 million PS3's. There's still a huge market for PS2 games, so I think it can live on for a while. No doubt we'll see releases all through 2008 and probably 2009, especially for multiplatform titles. Very few PS2 owners are ready to pay big bucks for a PS3, so I think it's in the company's best interest to keep making PS2 games for a while.

I think it can its still selling good, its easy and cheap to develop for it could help developers pay for some of the next gen games. There still is alot of money to be made with the ps2.

As long as Atlus and Nis keep bringing titles over from Japan PS2 has no death in sight. They're not going to move into the PS3 yet because A) They don't have to and B) They know that next gen is more directed at Sports & FPS crowds, for the moment.

Until RPG's burst into the Next Gen market PS2 is going to hold strong.

PS1 lasted 11 years.

PS2 is a bigger success, and will last longer.

absolutely not. I believe Sony will eventuallydrive you to a PS3 with limited PS2 games available. I don't see Sony or many game developers investing time/money into yesterday's technology. They may have to twaek the PS3 in features and price to compete - but I don't think maintaining PS2 lifespan is an option.

PS2 can and will last longer than 2010. That's definate. Look at how many systems Atari 2600 outlived! Everyone had it (at some point) and it was a ton of fun to play! Better graphics doesn't mean better games. Stupid Question though. They're still making games for PS2!!!! Don't underestimate the masses. PS3 won't catch on until after 2010 anyway. (where there may actually ba a use for blueray) PS2 is more than enough, considering that I still play NES games. Think about that tards.

Why would sony drive you to their new system, when they lose money on each consoul you buy. the money they make is off software. If people keep paying for PS2 games, they keep making the same amount of money.

Its just a matter of time till the public or developersloses intrest in the PS2, thats what will kill the system. Not conspiring Sony executives.

Sure why not, as long as the games are good the the fanbase stays with the system ,i think it will stand the test of time
