Wow, I thought I was the only one who felt kind of underdazzled by GoW. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it. It just felt..shallow. The combat, no matter how many combos you can do and what weapons you use, breaks down into button mashing. In no other game have my fingers gotten as sore as with this one. The story is easily the game's strongest point and really impressive, and I loved the cut-scenes.
But the button mashing...ugh. I just hated it. It ruined the fun of the game..the puzzles also weren't too stimulating...
The second one had better puzzles, but the button mashing was still there. As pretty as the combat looks, it just isn't a joy to input combos or pull them off. I thought that the repetitiveness of the combat system was really overlooked in reviews, I guess because people got dazzled by the admittedly awesome graphics and plot.
I was not impressed with GoW. I just obsolutely hate the layout of the stages and how its basically just a 2d side scroller with a little bit more movement. The story is lame, the nudity is lame, the replay value is lame, the character improvements are lame. I havent even bothered to play gow 2. GoW is just a waste of time and money. _AbBaNdOn
Games are funner with 2d gameplay. Just like Mortal Kombat. Not the new crappy ones.
God of War was very over-hyped. It was very short, a button masher, and at times boring. But it is one of the only hack-and-slash games that made you feel attached to the character that you were playing as.Plus there was a lot of difficulty, and that is always fun.
Yeah, but it's still a great game. If you want to talk about an overhyped game, play Halo. It in no way deserves any of the rave reviews it received.Brig_Gen_Maes
i couldn't agree with you more man, if people want to talk about over hyped/ overrated games look no further than Halo, by far GOW1&2 are quite possibly the best games out right now, so all you people who thinks it is boring and lame, man you people must not know anything[QUOTE="Brig_Gen_Maes"]Yeah, but it's still a great game. Oh no, I know what an overhyped game is - and GOW is right in there with the Halo series. GOW isn't boring, it's just not worth the effort to get through.

are you kidding me, so you just hate it because you are bad at it? i think that is the only reason you hate it, it's because you are bad at it, you are probably bad at all games right?

perfectly stted, but i thought the story was just ok. it was a typical adventure game, combat, platforming and some puzzles. nothing new or revolutionary. and combat, just use the L1 and square move and it kill slike everything, then whip out some magic if your in trouble. in DMC pulling off an extrme combo is sooooooo satisfying and rewarding, plus it takes more skill. GOW was just overrated and overhyped, still not a bad game, i would give it a 8 or 8.5.
There's nothing unique about God of War.2deluxe
the story is unique, i have never seen or played a game about Greek mythology before god of war
DUDE! Exactly what I think. Recently, I hadbought God of War 2 because of the hype and it was getting so many compliments sothen I decided to buy it. I beat the game and then I thought.. 'What IS so special in this game?'
It's just like another Devil May Cry 3 or Devil May Cry. Nothing special.
