I try to get games that dont end and i think i screwed up because now im torn between what to play and spend more time thinking about what i should play instead of actually playing stuff!!!!   I've got disgaea2, children of mana,  pokemon, digimon world ds, pokemon rescue team, metroid Fusion,  GTA, Samurai Warriors 2 empires,  NHL  all screaming at me and begging me for attention.

I really just want to hunker down and spend some time with digimon world ds,  but I just baught Children of mana and im like 10 hours in.  Then I have alot of crap left to do in pokemon and the next one comes out next week!!  Then i hae been bitten by the GTA bug again and feel like going through the game AGAIN.  And I love to get on the ice and smash skulls and score goals.

I tried spending time with each game but its really hard to stop and goto the next.   Does anyone else get overhwhelmed by their collection of games and how do you decide what to play.   Some games feel more like work than fun and others are definately more fun than work but then you feel like your neglecting the other games.

I feel like rushing through Children of Mana so i can bury it in my gba bag of games and have one less game to worry about but alot of them have no freaking ending!!!

i usually have an order of things

mostly if i get a bunch of new games, i'll stack in the order i want to play. If i like a game, i'll complete it, if not, i'll move to the next. I wouldnt say im overwhelmed, but then maybe you are more passionnate about this stuff, cause after about 40 ps2 games, im running out of games that interest me

That's me.  I've got so many games that I haven't played yet.  And I'll try to completely finish any game even if it stinks.  I'm currently playing Dragon Quest VIII and I'm over 60 hours with no end in sight!

Yep, I can definitely relate! I got a little worried a few months ago about how rare some PS2 games were getting, so I went on a few buying sprees, to go ahead and get the games that I know I am really going to want, ones I'd regret letting get away from me later. It's amazing the selection of terrific factory-sealed, unused games, both old and newer, that you can buy really cheaply for this console now.

Anyway, I have the same problem now -- at times, it can be really tough to decide what to play next. Most offer dozens of hours of gameplay at a minimum, and like you say, a lot of these darn things just don't end, they keep going and going... which is great, but also overwhelming at times. At the rate I'm playing, I don't know how long it'd take me to "get through" what I have, but I tend to relish good games rather than rushing them, so it'd be well into next year, I'm sure.

But look at it this way -- we have so much to look forward to still, and lots of great choices to play no matter what we happen to be in the mood for at the time. As problems go, this is a great one to have. :)

My God yes. I will let you look at my collection page and see why. I have not finished a single PS2 game except for God of War. I just keep getting new ones, starting them, buying new ones and repeat. What's wrong with me?!

Yeah i can relate to that :?, i always try to buy games that i know are good or that i really really like and those are the ones i end up finishing but when i go to the store i see these other games other ppl recommended :? and i buy then, but when i play them they are not what i was expecting or i got stuck and frustrated so i change games, :? is really annoying.

Like when i got into FF games, at first i couldn't see why ppl liked em so i bought FFVIII wich was the newest one at the time, i swear to god i tried to finish that game like 4 times since 1999 and still nothing  one time i got stuck and didnt play it anymore, the next one my memory card fried and lost all my files :? then when i got the new one i got to the 3rd cd but i just didnt keep playing dunno why and the other time i bought FFIX  so i was playing that one and i really got into it and liked it but something happened and the game broke down on cd2  so u know things like that always happen, to the date the only FF game i have finished is FFXII :?

I still have tons of PS2 games i havnt finished, Psi-ops, Silent hill2,3 and 4, Onimusha4, FFX, FFX-2,KH2, ZoE2(i got stuck), RE Code veronica, SMT:nocturne, SMT:DDS1 and 2,Dark cloud2 (which i was halfway but i restarted the game cuz i forgot lots of stuff and now regreting ) Ace combat 4 and 5, those are all i can remember but i bet u they are more -_- and thats without counting FFVII,FFVIII and IX, i have hundred's and hundred's of hours waiting for me i just cant get to finish them, Now im getting Chrono cross which i hear great things about and i know im gonna finish it cuz the cds are brand new so no stoping cuz the game broke down and i bought another card, wish me luck :D.

Wow, to have this many RPGs and not beat one of them, how can you do that!

On topic, I know how you all feel, we seem to be in pretty much the same boat. I can count 15 games in my collection some of which I have had for years that have never been outside the case. I am trying to beat games faster than I normally do just to experience them as it is a shame to have so many unplayed games around, especially if I know some of them to be great games.

You've got some great games on that list, but I think you should also add:

  1. MGS2
  2. MGS3
  3. Resident Evil 4
  4. Devil May Cry 3
  5. Zone of the Enders
  6. Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner
They're not all exclusives, but you'll be missing out if you haven't played them yet...

My game collection does not overwhelm me yet because I don't have enough games to overwhelm me! I need to go on a game binge and buy nothing but PS 2 games (and a memory card so I can save stuff!) Maybe when my dad comes home. He DID promise me some PS 2 games a while back. I want Snoopy vs the Red Baron BADLY. I love Snoopy.

I totally know what you mean... But, if a game starts to feel like work to me, I either stop playing it all together because I'm not enjoying it or I just take a break from that game.  DQ VIII started to feel like a bit of a grind to me so I took a break from it to play some other games.  I am enjoying the game but some times a little variety is needed, which in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with that.

I do have an overwhelming collection of games, most of them being RPG's.  While I have finished many games, I still have many to finish.  Which oddly enough is lending some extra life to my PS2 and why I'm in no hurry for a PS3.  Hell, I still have a few PSone games I still wish to finish.

I also game on my PC when I get in the mood for something PCish and this is another form of break I take lol.  Anywho, I find I'll dabble for a bit in this or that until I strike the right mood for something(s).  Then I'll sit through it and finish it/them.  It wasn't long ago that I had set my mind on finishing Tomb Raider Legends and GoW but I was still deep into FF XII.  So I took a break from XII for a week, finished the other two, then I came back and finished XII the following week.

So yeah, sometimes I have to force myself to finish something.  If it's really thatbad where I really don't wish to play a game any further, then that's when I decide if it's time to trade the game in.

Even though my favorite games are mainly RPG's, strategy and RTS, I think it's important to have a variety of genres to play for different moods.  Sometimes I just feel like playing a racer, shooter or a fighter just for a quick action/arcade fix and then off I go back to my game of choice until I finish it.

To make things worse, there are still more games coming... It's never ending.  But I buy what I have an interest in with the intention of finishing it at my own lieasure.

EDIT:  Funny, I took a break from DQ VIII but some how ended up getting sucked into Suikoden V.  *sighs*  I hope I can remember what I was doing in DQ when I go back to it lol.

Thanx for all the replys.  I have enjoyed reading them all.   I just want to clarify a little bit.   What I meant by overwhelmed was trying to decide between games you have not beaten and playing games you had that are just to damn fun to ignore.   Some of you guys talked about these mountains of unplayed games and its a little different than what i was trying to talk about but I can see also how it would be kind of the same by having to choose which unplayed game next hehe.   Anyways feel free to talk about either situation.
