Dragon Quest or Kingdom Hearts 2?

if you like the art style of akira toryama, and dont mind a more retro rpg, go for dragon's quest

as for kingdom hearts, i found the first one to be superior to the second one 

kh2 is nearly an exact repeat of kh only with a lame story thrown in.  Its not bad, though basically just to cash in on fans of the first game.   But it has tons of well done boss battles.   I imagine playing kh and kh2 in a row would be overkill though.

DQ8 is a simple, classic, not very deep but very enjoyable rpg that is by far the better of the two options (since you were already picking up the first kh) 

If you are a gamer who looks at things that are cute and whimsically animated as kiddy and immature though, you should avoid both. 

I recommend KH2

but you should try rogue galaxy:D

Kingdom Hearts is better choice, i think

Dragon Quest 8 is old school rpg, its nice but has side effects. it has random encounter, means while you are walking your enemies pop up from nowhere, and its very often ( thats not problem for me but i saw many people are annoyed with this ). skills are not explained well, and it becomes a huge waste of time when you find other weapon skills are better and you want to give that new weapon's skills ( thats the most annoying part maybe ). if you know toriyama akira's art, you'll see there is no difference again, so its a bit disappointing, but i dont say its bad. while wondering around with your ship, you still encounter enemies which i dont like because i feel like, oh at last i can start wandering faster, but no. sometimes it gets boring, like when you lose story while wandering, it becomes really pain and boring.

fun part, in battles, to watch your enemy is fun, sometimes they look like dancing. there is monster arena, that you collect monsters and make them battle in the arena and get prizes, my friend plays the game for only this, he is so disappointed with the game. there is a sabrecat you can mount on and wander around faster. there are casinos, like all rpg games have it now.

even its a great game Dragon Quest 8 is boring.

For anyone who complains about random battles in DQ8, you get a sabrecat which you can use to cover great distances quickly, there is a spell you can use to reduce encounters to almost nil and near the end of a game you can travel on a bird with no random encounters.mohmaaytah

until you get sabrecat, you play 20 hours of the game already. you finish the second continent and get your ship, but if you can bear with it until that time. also holy water only helps for lower level monsters, when you use it on new area it doesnt work mostly and makes me mad

LOL, agreed but I didn't want to scare him off the game too much, I thought I sould say some nice things about it.

Holy water works on new areas. It depends of your level, more than the enemies you encounter. I have travel through entire dungeons without facing a single opponent.

I would go with DQ. I felt like KH is overrated...

Its just the battle view for DQ is bad.

KH2 handsdown... once you start up after roxas' part then you cant put it down (roxas is lame though)

TOTALLY KINGDOM HEARTS 2 not only it has the sympathetic storyline but it so kicks dragon queast cheap plastic booty, it has a way better theme song and CG clips  and the story line is insane!! besides its all disney caracters but they made it crazy and awsome like that. it so better the dragon queast!!!:lol:

And I thought Roxas was voiced by Koki Uchiyama...

IMO Roxas totally pwns Sora. And KHII is at least ten times better than DQVIII. Just my opinion... Akira Toriyama's art or what should I call it doesn't appeal to me. It's just too ugly and simplistic. That alone prevented me from completing DQVIII. A lame excuse but at least I tried.

I've not played either of em ..... but I hope to play them both soon

well, yea DQ8 is great game. i have both of them and i still play DQ8, but its because i play it not so often to not make myself bored of it

but KH is not overrated, because its a fun game. if you look at their scores Dragon Quest 8 is better, but what makes Kingdom Hearts better for people is its fun and difference. personally, Kingdom Hearts is the only game that made me excited while waiting a game's release, not even Metal Gear Solid that i see as the best game.

I say personally kh2 i didnt really like dq8 cause it took me forever to beat boss of whole game and kh2 is wayyy more fun but dq8 is still very cheap and both should be like $20 right now so i would get both
