I have both, so i just advice u to get em both, FFXII is really enjoyable and an overall great game, DQ8 is just awesome i loved that game i have like 90 of gameplay is really good.
Dragon Quest 8 is a very traditional RPG. However, it is one of my favorite games on the ps2. It has a very old school feel to it. I personally prefer it over final fantasy XII. FF12 is a great game though too. I would say get both and see which one you like better for yourself.
well from my point of view i finished bouth games and i must say it was much enyojable play DG8 since he battle sistem in FF12 in stupid...thought i agree with the guy before me there are beater rpgs
well i got both because eb games had a sale that was buy 1 used ps2 gamecube or xbox used game and get the next one 50% off soo i got them both for like 20$
Asking about any FF game will result in scary levels of FF fan-boyism. Just get both and make your own opinion. They both have their strengths and weaknesses and comparing them may be like comparing apples to oranges. Glad to see you got both hopefully you will be pleased by both of the titles.
I'd pick FFXII over DQVIII easily. I've seen DQVIII in action, and I'm just not interested. FFXII was a good game. There are better FF titles, but it was still good :D

well i plan on playing DQ8 tomorrow as ff12 is just waaaaay to fun...
see the reason im playing my ps2 now is because my 360 got the 3 redlights and i needed something to play so i got out my ps2 and got some games (not expecting much) and now that ive played them i realize why the ps2 is the best system ever. even if the graphics and online are out of date its just an amazing console with the some of the best games of all time
FF12 or DQ8?? Depends on the features of RPG's that are most appealing to you. FF12 is cutting edge, but DQ8 is old school. Irrespective of their fundamental differences, Ienjoyed both titles immensely, and would encourage other members totry playing either ofthesegames beforewastingmorebandwith space on GameSpot servers.

Agreed. FFXII has an innovative gameplay style while DQVIII is the ultimate traditional RPG.
These two RPGs are really different. FFXII's battles are in real-time while Dragon Quest VIII is turn-based. Basically, pick FFXII if you want a faster paced combat system, or pick DQ for a slower one.
