Personally, as a HUGE fan of FFX I gotta give this one to FF XII...even though ten has some INSANE moments they had nothing on the judges...those dudes made that game big time. Plus you really got the feeling The Empire was a different society than the rest in the universe..cultural clashes were way more realistic in 12..what do you guys think? PlZ leave other Final Fantasy games out of this one...let's try to keep it on X and XII thx

FFX was a great game, but i gotta hand it to FFXII, i like the gambit system and the license points idea, also the ability to add more mist combo's is nice. One thing i thought was cool was the new esper's, i wanted to see the old ones, but they added new ones that are still cool though.

I prefer FFX world and story over FFXII.FFXII has better gameplay then FFX and better graphics but the world is not as magical(dunno if i said this right) as FFX's.There are no places in FFXII thst are beautiful as zanarkand or the moonflow, makalania forest and others.FFXII does have a variety of different places and it's bigger than FFX world but i still like the one in FFX more. The story is good in FFXII but not as good as FFX story. It's a good story but it isn't that story that makes you play the game till you finish it just too see what happens in the end.It could have been, but it's not. When i was playing FFXII i usualy forgot that there is a story and i played it only cause of the great gameplay. When i was playing FFX i couldn't sleep because i was thinking what's gonna happen next. And one thing that i like more in FFXII is that the main character is not annoying as Tidus.I mean,i like Tidus but he gets realy annoying sometimes and acts like a child:xSo,FFX wins this one.

Yeah dude FF X was very awesome. I loved he Airship you flew around in too....but The Judges made for some of the best story driven plots ever! I do hope they make a game where a city can even hope to rival Zanarkand...but until they do (which could be awhile) I'm gonna give the cake to FFXII, not because Ten sucked...but because Seymor (spelling err) didn't strike me as evil as threatening as the Judges...although he made me hate a character for the first time ever lol (YUNA IS MY BOO NOT YOURS) lol! I remeber being like whoa whoa whoa...she like Tidus...!

I have to go with FFX, for me FFXii was a major disappointment story wise (bloody Star wars replicate) but it game play was simply superior than other FF entries in the series.

Agree with you whole heartedly and I must point out that if this trend continues, in the not very far future FF will join the list of other high profile RP games that sold there souls just for the sake of attracting wider range of audience ($).

I loved Final fantasy XII. It is easily one of the best rpg I ever played.  Only thing I disliked about that game is how impractical it is to use espers.

Listen, FFXii has more than few similarities with the Star Wars you like it or not , the judges look and sound like Darth Vader . the setting, the environment, you name it everything looks familiar, you can argue all nightlong that it isn't like that but in truth it is. I've been playing Final Fantasy for over 15 years now and I can tell you honestly this entry in the series isn't in any shape or form similar to other Final fantasy games  and I put it down to Sakaguchi resigning.

So what? Many things in entertainment are derived from older ones. You basically can't create music without sampling something found in other songs. It's a fact of life.

Okay so your question is:  Final Fantast X, or Final Fantasy XII?

Let's have a brief review of both...

Final Fantasy X
  • Stars a boy named Tidus, who has a terrible fashion sense, and isn't tough at all, cries to much, and laughs randomly with...
  • Yuna, a High Summoner who is a nice girl and all, but isn't half as tough as...
  • Rikku, a theif that actually is a pretty good character, except for the fact that she whines way more than...
  • Auron, a silent guy with a big sword, and takes crap from no one, who also is a main character because he knows...
  • Jecht, who turns incidentally into a gigantic monster named Sin and eats people...wee.
Final Fantasy XII
So far, I haven't played too much of this game, but it seems a lot less whiny and more epic than ten.  And I like the characters better, so ha.

Verdict:  Neither.  I choose VII.

Indeed, but Final Fantasy is not a western made game and trying to be one all of sudden loses the franchise's charm as well as losing it identity.

I think anyone who hasn't already played FFX should take whatever you've said with a pinch of salt, because you simply don't have any knowledge of real meaning behind the FFX story (probably because of it idiom) . but SE basically ruined the original story by releasing a sequel to that game and turning it into a childish idiocy just for the sake of making more money.

Dude...The Judges made FF XII in a word EPIC. Sure we all loved X's story (I cherish it still and hate the bastard child named X-2) but my point is the fact that FF XII doesn't rely on all the gimmicks that make a Final Fantasy Formula complete. FF X milked em hard....(not as bad as FF8 but still) I see the artisitc similarity to Star Wars but CANNOT say they ripped em off...They used a similar formula...not the same...Star Wars has been HEAVILY used in FF games for the longest time...going so far as to have characters named in the games after Star Wars characters....it's all my opinion I suppose though...point being 10 was a pretty version of 8 + 9....FFXII is a pretty version of itself...god forbid they make an FF XII - 2

btw...the similarities stem from the Nazis in Space theories MANY sci-fi writers for games, movies, comics, and books. The British accent is something Lucas invented to make them seem less obvious....maybe a reason you saw the resemblence?

The point taken, but what you fail to point out is that you don't evolve a cherished franchise by copying somebody elses work , what you would atleast try to do is keep the identity of franchise intact and not just completely turn your back on what made the series so compelling in the first place just for the sake of what western based critics might think . what made FF such a great franchise in the first place was the fact that they had there own style of storytelling but now they'll be happy as long as the money rolling in. P.S. they are already making a FFXII sequel for DS. that all there is to it really.

I prefer Final Fantasy XII.

Final Fantasy X is bit too linear and easy, and Final Fantasy XII is very big game. Plenty of hunts to do, and replayablity value is high.

So, the answer is obvious.

For me ffx is greater than 12. FF12 is very boring and good in it while in ffx everything is good. But it still worth to have both of them.

Yeah like I said, I think XII is a lot more epic than X, and the people that said X was linear are kinda right in my opinion.  I mean, it's still a great game, and it is a good addition to the Final Fantasy franchise, but I just don't believe it's one of their best.  XII might actually be classified in that category though.

P.S: Yeah I was joking about the VII thing. :D Between the two, on topic, I perfer XII.

I bored FF XII from a friend and couldn't really get into it. Maybe I just didn't hang with it enough or something I dunno. I really loved FF X though. Great story IMO. I can play it over and over and still get the same joy out of it as the first time I beat it.

It's good to know that they're are other fans out their as passionate as myslef when it comes to the series, where as you think it may be going downhill I believe it is going uphill. Hopefully FF XIII will bring something to the table we both enjoy :D

I like more FFX beacuse of the story. it's fantastic you just feel sad whan you finisih the game and you think that it worths your money(for ex. I spent $50 for my FFX) sphere grid is more interesting than the licence stuff.

FFXII is more political, which I don't like, battle systems are boring, dungeons are so big that are boring too. well, it is very boring overall. Although graphics were incredible. Story isn't interesting and you won't understand nothing at some parts of the game.

Hard to decide! I love FFX, and i´m currently playing XII and i love it too! Both games will be in the videogame history for sure! FFX has this ethereal taste, this magic in the environments and sounds, and the storyline is so cool! Not to mention the cast (no need to say that Auron ROCKS). By its side, FFXII has that cultural and political struggles, betrayals and false allies that makes the story so interesting. The gambit system is awesome, and the seamless switching between exploration and battles gives the game more realism. But do you know what i really love about FFXII? The conecction between it and FF Tactics. FFXII´s Espers are based in FFT´s Zodiac Braves (Belias is obviously related with Velius, Adrammelech is very similar to FFT´s Adramelk, and so on) In conclusion, i could say that i´m unable to determine a winner. Both games are so cool that would be unfair to pick only one
