Never mind them, I like both. But all things considered, theres a reason they made Advent Children, used Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts (I & II), and are (considering) remaking FF VII for the PS3...
FF VII is freaking sweet!!!

haha im surprised how u guys overrate final fantasy 7 to a point its pathetic. yes its a good game. but not THAT GOOD.
but nontheless.
final fantasy 6 will be the clear winner as the best FINAL FANTASY.
7 wouldn't have been this overrated if it wasnt for 6's popularity and sony playstations ability to play CGI's which at the same time transitioned final fantasy into a fully 3d game.
i do admit 7 has one of the most likable cast, music, environments in the series. just as good if not better than 6's. and one of the most badass: sephiorth, compared to kefka in ff6 is much more cooler but not as evil as kefka.
and FFX doesn't suck as much as these people say it is. FFX has the best CGI graphics in the series. the long game, couple it with a badass seymour, beautiful female lead (except ingame), whiny but cool looking tidus, and the rest of the crew are pretty likeable also. but X shines in the department of customization and maxing out stats. All you needed was 200 hrs to do everything in FFX and get everything maxed out. its also the first in the series to break 9999 hps and dmg which was pretty cool.
FF7:
Pros: 1. materia system, the vast amounts of materia and combinations makes FF7's materia system very unique compared to other FF's. cant beat slashing a foe 4 times for 9999x4. and cloud looks cool while doing it.
2. CGI graphics 3. very likable cast 4. cool ingame arcade games very very fun. 5. very cool enemy: sephiroth
Cons: 1. overrated. 2. story to me wasn't that good towards the end. 3. endboss fight was pretty stupid and easy. 4. ending wasn't that good either
FFX:
Pros: 1. CGI graphics, just stunning. 2. great customization system 3. easy to level up (and ways to level up super fast) 4. long game 5. likable cast 6. breaks the traditional 9999hps and dmg 7. environments were very magical and memorable especially zanarkend. 8. possibly one of the best in the series.
Cons: 1. ingame graphics were good at best 2. story was alright
Conclusion: to me FFX is a great game so was 7..... 4-6 years ago. so i suggest playing these games in this order in case you haven't.
its best to go in this order: 6, chrono trigger, tactics, 7, 8, 9,10,12Â (11 is optional, its a good game but partying is a pain.)

Nice rundown. FFX was, in my opinion, much better than FFVII. Although I thought Seymour was an awesome bad guy, had a wonderfully evil and sadistic voice and nature and much deeper than Sephiroth, I wouldn't call him a badass.
FF7 by a mile. great characters, great story, great graphics, great gameplay (materia rocked). i remember when FF7 first came out, I and the rest of the world were basically in awe. Noone had ever seen this kind of a cinematic storyline before, the graphics were incredible, the cinematics were mindblowing. the best way i could put it is that the game was hollywood, it reeked of stye, technology, it reeked high budget. Lot's of games re hollywood now, lot's have the production values, back then it just stuck out as a showcase of how videogames had hit the mainstream, it paved the future of videogames as not just a bunch of pixelated characters on screen with blips as music, but as a serious medium capable of telling a story like a movie only interactive.
FFX was just boring, the story the characters, the plot twists were all just not interesting. FF7's story, characters and twists stand out today as among the best and most remembered in gaming history. Aeris' death could be the most remembered videogame event of that generation.
haha im surprised how u guys overrate final fantasy 7 to a point its pathetic. yes its a good game. but not THAT GOOD.First of all, the topic was VII or X. Not, out of the series. Secondly, some of y'all say that VII or X was the worst (cause you couldn't finish it), but nobody mentioned X-2. Y not? Finally, (to me) the best RPGs to ever come out were Chorno Trigger (not Cross, had 10 possible endings) and Secret of Mana (battle techniques were freaking sweet).
but nontheless.

this is useless... its just like trying to decide wich football team is the best...mine or yours... just play all of them in order and till you can... and replay it if you really like... thats it...exmyrmidonI say try X first, then try VII if/when it's re-released for the PS3.
you have been sorely mis-informed. FFVII is beast game but FFX is one of the worst FF games ever with a whiney protagonist and weak story. why dont you play FFXII?cvasquez311
Absolutely, try remebering the forced laughing Yuna and Tidus scene. That was the dumbest thing I have ever seen in a game. FF7 should have a remake. 8)
I'm didn't create this thread to completely put down FFVII. I didn't like FFVII, but that doesn't mean it's a totally bad game. I just happened to like FFX better. FFX is not a bad game. I think the reason all you FFVII fanboys like dislike this game so much is because of the so called "horrible" voice acting. At least thats what ya'll keep saying. So what if Tidus's voice was a little whinny. GET OVER IT!!!! You guys are so used to the stoic, calm, and collected main characters found in most of the FF series that you can't handle someone a little different and that actually speaks his mind. Why don't you ever point out the good voice acting like Auron's, Wakka's, and Seymour's just to mention a few. The only thing you FFVII pansey's will ever have on FFX's voice acting is Tidus's. SO QUIT GLORIFYING VII SO MUCH AND QUIT TALKIN TRASH ABOUT X ALREADY. JEEEEEEEEZ.
On the positive side, the materia system in VII was very well thought out and executed. Not as flexible and deep as the sphere grid, but nonetheless very good. The battle system was so-so. Again, not as good as FFX's in my opinion, but still good. Like I said, FFVII isn't a completely bad game. It had Sephiroth which was and still is and will always be the most badass villain in the FF series forever.
p.s.- For all you people out there who hated FFX, in your future postings in this thread, try to at least point out one thing in FFX that you liked or admired. I did my part in pointing out things I liked in FFVII. I t won't kill you guys to do the same with FFX. Thank you.

I have made a thread like this in the past and thought this one was the one I created but it isn't. Sorry to whomever created it for taking the credit. It was a mistake. thanks
FF7 Sucks! How many of you people actually leveled that darn flower girl???? fanboys speak of Aires as if she were real....give me break!...Only Yuna turned out to be real. Shu76
Criticize FFVII at your own risk in this forum. Personally, I agree with you on certain levels.
you have been sorely mis-informed. FFVII is beast game but FFX is one of the worst FF games ever with a whiney protagonist and weak story. why dont you play FFXII?cvasquez311LOL finally someone agrees with me...that game was lame...who cares about graphics....ff7 was had freaking epic grap's in it's time...and is uite possibly the greatest game ever made. not to mention the fact that ff X has the lamest evil dude in the history of the world and ff vii has one of the best....anyways..carry on...=p PEACE!!!!

OK, here goes: FFX's good point: awesome graphics FFX's bad points: lame story, bad voice over, childish characters and tedious grid system. Exactly, Tidus is the main character. :D Though, Auron was kinda cool.I respect your opinion, but I think that is a completely unfair judgment on FFX's voice acting. So what if one out of the entire games character's voice acting was mediocre. Like I said before, GET OVER IT!!!! And plus FFX's story was much more original and better rounded than FFVII's ever could be. Disagree with me or not, but it's the cold, hard truth. And anyone who doesn't accept it as truth, I have much syphathy for them not being able to experience FFX through the eyes of someone who really enjoyed the game.

where were you when FFVII was first released?? :DAm I the only one who didnt find FFX's story very interesting? Now I havent played the game in a pretty long time but what I remember was this giant ball thing sucking up everything or whatever, and this gay guy seymour trying to be some kind of bad guy but failing at it. I guess the only part that would be any intersting at all is that Tidus was a dream or whatever.no you're not the only one
Anyway it was a long time since I played it and my memory isnt the best so I might be wrong about something there hehe.
