Ha ha. I thought the story wasn't really all that bad. It wasn't hugely original, but it was fine imo. For me it was most of the characters that sucked. Tidus = worst main characters ever, Yuna's a dork, Wakka's annoying, the lion guy barely said anything, and Rikku (though she had a cute face) was shaped like an 11 year old boy. The only characater I thought was bearable was Lulu. I also didn't like how easy the game was. There wasn't really any exploration to speak of, just run from one side of the screen to the other and your in the next area. Plus, you don't get to control your airship. XII remedies most of this, but still doesn't give you control of your airship.  :-( For all that bad though, I found it to be a great game. I believe I scored it as a 9. As a GAME it's a 9/10 imo. But as a FF it would recieve a much lower score from me.

thats crazy damn. i only had like around 102:32 hours onto that..but beat my monster hunter save. 490 hours. haha. others had it go to the thousands even..but wait...check out those with xfire accounts that play WoW..not THATS CRAZY

what makes the story in FFX dumb and retarted, you must have never played the game, the story is the main reason this game has a 9.3, anyways its a good selection, if you have like $12 bucks you could keep animal crossings and just get this game, it has one of the best storylines and should keep you busy for a unlimited amount of hours

Its full of retarded cliches and an oh so predictable twist. The characters are simple stereotypes that resonate further thanks to the crappy voice acting. I seriously wanted to break the disc in half after that so called "dramatic" ending. Add to that, a romance for sissies.
I havent played all FF games, III and VI Im talking about you hehe. But X is not close to the best episodes in the saga. Yes, its a good game, and if you have never played a FF its a good start but in my book, though I gave it 152 hours, its not a good FF. The story is too cliche and easy to figure, unlike other FF that basically the only cliche they had was the love part (Rosa-Cecil, Squall- Rinoa, etc). I recommend people to play it, but its far from a good FF. FF XII is great, but the story unfolds pretty much at the end of the game, so you have to play a lot of time for the story to pick up. X-2 has a very entertaining gameplay (the only reason I played it for so long) but the story is stupid and so are the characters.
Personally, I enjoyed the game a lot, despite some of its flaws. I think the Story was pretty good, although somewhat strange. Yet, it's an interesting and entertaining experience. The biggest issue with the game for me was that it's just too linear. The whole game feels like just going from A to B without ever having much of a choice to explore, or walk out of line for a bit. Most of the "level design" only lets you walk straight forward. And yeah, the voice acting and it's timing could've been much better (FF XII shows how it can and should be done). But then again: the sphere-board was a new, fresh approach to leveling up, combat never got boring to me (unlike with many other RPGs), the graphics were top-notch back then and still look good today (except the facial animations... they have a "first try" feeling to them). All in all, I think the game deserves a 9 and you surely can't go much wrong with a FF title when you're looking for a good RPG.
