I got a PS2 about 6 months ago, and been playing a few games on it but not much. God of War, Shadow of the Collosus, and MGS 3. I want to bust in some FF, but I've never really played any of them (not since FFIII on SNES) so I was wondering what you guys think about what game I should start with? Does it matter?
My first FF was FFX(10) and it was great. Id get that, then FFX-2 if you want to learn more into that story. FFXII(12) is great also and I am currently playing this game through, story gets kind of boring. FF7 is really great, one of the best games ever. I still prefer FFX over it, it has an awesome story which kept me playing it. I sttill havent beaten FFX because I got stuck..I bought it at release too lol.
FFX and FFX-2Â are very good games. It may not be perfect but you will be spending hundreds of hours there just like any other FF games. if you want to be more advance, play FFXII.

Get FFX unless you dont mind bad graphics then get FFVII but if you cant find that then get FFVIII. I reccomend getting FFXII later since its a little hard for beginers And FFIII is FFVI now:wink:
I'd recommend you start with FFXII. It's got the best graphics, best battle system, best environments, best art style (though not the best story or characters). Then if you like it, work your way backwards.
Hands down start with FF7, any true RPG gamer would agree. FFX has nothing on 7 and i could debate to the very end to that. to start the series play through 7,8,10,12. FF X-2 was ridiculous, i started RPG with ff7 when it was first released in 97-98 i believe. I still to this day crave for a char. as good as cloud strife. square has yet to create another char as good as him or create a char. team as good as the FF7 series.
and if you get a chance play xenogears great game for the ps
FFVII,FFVIII,FFX,FFX-2,FFXII.Go like that cause there's a chance that you won't stand the graphics of FFVII and VIII if you play FFX,FFX-2 or FFXII first.
Personal preference is for FFVII, even with the older graphics. FFX is really nice as well, but don't get me started on FFX-2, I played that game a few hours and could not stand the... well, I don't even know what word to use, suffice to say I never played it again.
FF7 has horrible graphic trust me you wont stand it. Get FF10 its a great start.th2
FFVII is one the few games that gameplay is so great that you end up not minding anymore with graphics, after some time playing it (like 5 - 10 hours =X) you be so caught in the story that you wont even any graphics glitch that end up happening
I say play them all and enjoy each for their individual qualities they offer. Don't skip one because someone here says so, you may miss out on a game you may enjoy.
whoever tells you to start with ffx-2 is just .... well words cannot describe them. all that i can say is that they are not FF rpg fans, or rpg fans to begin with. i stand behind my statements firmly, users state ff7 is going to turn you off because of the graphics. though the graphics arent the best it was for its time almost 10 yrs ago!!! the cut scenes are however great.
anyhow it isnt about the graphics it's the gameplay. FF7 is by far one of the best games to start off an rpg experience. dont start with ffX characters werent all that great, dont start with 8 either believe me start with ff7 it is the best out of the series hands down. the chemistry between chars in this series is amazing, just amazing. once again the order of the FF series should be as follows 7,8,10,12. those were the best out of the FF series

I agree with this guy. Get 7, 8, 10, then 12. I don't believe in 9 and you can't make me.
Final Fantasy VII is the best RPG ever made. Naturally it has the worst graphics of the list, but I played it for a third time after having a ps3 and still enjoyed it. FF8, Tactics, and FFX are other notables.

You can start anywhere in terms of story and anything, but I've heard FFXII is rather impenetrable for new-comers. I started with FFX and never regretted the choice - so I recommend starting with FFX.
