[QUOTE="IsNotInterestes"]Not nearly as much as XII.Archangel5784Fixed... How bout' no. They are both crap, what does it matter? Though, no matter how much I hate and ***** about FFXII, I will always love it more than VII.
no, i think ffx has the best story of any rpg on the ps2twohattricks3Maybe on PS2 but nothing special compared to the FF on PSone.
All of the series are overrated...0757691
Agreed, I think some of the FF games are good but nowhere near as good as what people make them out to be.

Final Fantasy will never be as good Bioware RPGs, me being a Bioware fanboy and all. PS1 is where it ruled at.[QUOTE="0757691"]All of the series are overrated...ryan_returns29

I don't agree with your comment. Just think about the time when it got release . None of RPGs in that time could compare to it.

Well, you could say that when the series first came out and all and after they made significant improvements (e.g. FF VII), but the whole series is just getting so much alike, after 12 games they really need to make massive changes in the series to keep an innovative 'fresh' feeling in each game instead of just that 'I've done all this before' feeling.
I think sex is overrated, so is always getting wasted...
Overrated... no, I don't know that many people who hold it that high in the series. It's a good game but there are better FF games.
I don't think it's really rated highly enought to be overrated.

It's one of those games that is more of a love or hate type thing. Whether you like the game or not, it still was a big impact to the PS2 by being the most sucessful RPG for the system. It was head and shoulders above the rest and even 5 1/2 years later since it's release there are very few PS2 RPGs that has reached it's popularity. Nightmare5000
I agree with you the most, the first time i played FFx i was like, "why the hell am I playing this japanese crap?" but then after giving up on the game twice, i grew more mature and able to understand the complexities of the game and the story and now I believe it is probably one of the best games ever to grace the PS2

but it ultimatly will be the first FF rpg to Lose FF fans. i have been a fan of FF from 1 thru 9 and 10 and up really doesn't seem like the same games i wanted. so i don't buy those games anymore.Well.... i said it before and i'll say it again... I was never an RPG fan... I always hated RPGs until one day i picked this one up for the sake of picking something up... i got hooked instantly... I tried FF7-9, none of them are appealing to me... but this one, i was so drawn into the characters and the story and the music is amazing. So if you ask me , if it's overrated... well, what i will tell you is, give it some time to the RPG haters, and they will hate it because of loving it too much... :Paaron5829perfect example of what FFX was a game to Appeal to those who don't like JRPG. they took away the World maps and made them more Linear so people can say exacally what you said. they added Voice so you didn't have to read. and they made a combo system so easy there was no way in hell you can ever have the wrong party. you may say thats a good thing but , the fact is i'm not talking about that. i'm talking about how they destroyed the game to milk a license rather than keep hte series true to it's roots like the Legend of Zelda wich does an amazing job of doing the same stuff better. FF always has to take these bold steps game to game and eventually they will move back into traditional JRPG to please some of us but then others will say i liked the Easy, linear FF's
this game was horrible. I still cannot believe how annoying every single character was (especially Tidus). The dialogue was just heinous man. Plus they took away our levels and replaced it with sphere grid. BOO!!!!
yea i think FF X was overrated sure it had great graphics but thats it.
i personally didn't like the shpere grid thing for lvlving up, i h8 the story with a passion, the battle system they used can't complain its been done b4....the muic was ok .
this wan't really what every one said it was i like all the others that i played more 8,9,7, and 12
No, I don't think FFX is overated at all...
In fact, it was Final Fantasy X that got me interested in the Final Fantasy series. To date, it's my favorite video game of all time. I know people have beefs with the characters, and that's their opinion, and I respect that. Personally, I could relate with the characters more, especially Tidus, who had a love/hate relationship with his father, and who had to learn to grow up.
As for XII, it was a good game, but the battle system was a little...robotical. I did like not having random battles anymore, and being able to customize my party's attack patterns, but I also hated enemies being able to chase after you while your party dies...but to each his own. The only other thing I didn't like too much about XII was that the story was a little bit...lacking. I felt like there could've been more to it, more backstory with the main characters...oh well, it was still a good game in my opinion.
Good side of FFX: Awesome graphics. Are you kidding? The grid system was the best leveling system the FF series has EVER had! The only system I miss more is the materia system... Oh and the interactive limit breaks in 8 were awesome!
Bad side of FFX: Childish characters (remember laughing Yuna and Tidus scene (oh the horror of dumbness)), lame story and a tedious leveling grid system.
If FF7 had FFX's graphics, FFX would not be the game we know today. 8)dr_jashugan
I have enjoyed many RPG's in my time, both western and eastern. For someone to say many of these Final Fantasy games were over rated for their time, they either don't like JRPG's or they didn't like that particular game. Other wise, you're just a hater.
I say this because no other JRPG developer has pushed the genre forward as much as SE has. Some complain of wanting the series to change and yet when they make massive changes with XII, you still complain. No other developer has put this much effort, or this much polish on their products in this genre.(Only a few even come close, imo)
Yes, it's true, I've been enjoying the series since the SNES FF II(IV) and with each installment, there have been many changes but I've enjoyed each game for their own qualities none the less. I don't feel any of the series is over rated but I do feel that some people will over rate a game or series based on their own interests. Having said that...
I enjoyed X very much. It wasn't my favorite but it was a solid game for it's genre with no competition for it's time of release. Was it over rated? I don't think so. Did it have some flaws? Sure it did. But I tend to look at my over all enjoyment of a game rather than nitpicking a game apart for simplistic faults.
What game has the same battle system as FFX? I can't remember any game before it that had such an easy but satisfying battle system. All FF's before it was using the ATB i.e. wait for a bar to fill up and hope the enemy doesn't unleash some crazy move that'll kill your whole party. That was the crappiest system ever but developers still like to use it - Square even reverted FFX-2 to use it!!! I can't play that game just because of that. Sphere grid rocked - every character starts off with their own unique traits but if you didn't like it you can change how they levelled up. I thought the story was more mature and different from other FF games. I think the voice acting was the worst part and may be influencing people's opinion of the story.yea i think FF X was overrated sure it had great graphics but thats it.

WOW. You have just said what my exact views are on FFX and FFXII. You basically took the words right out of my mouth. I totally agree with everything you just said. I will definately be tracking you from now on. Write me!!!!!!

Absolutely agreed.
FFXII is a great game. The story may seem lacking because it is not about saving the world. The lack of character development does detract from the game, but not a great deal so. The battle system can be robotical if you let it, I find that I can switch up my combat style greatly depending on how I want to play. For example, I can just let my tanks go out and beat up on the enemy with healing on gambits and just roll through a dungeon that way, or I can use summons and magic to get by. It really gives you the option of making it what you want. i wouldn't really agree with someones criticism of the battle system just because they chose to play it a certain way which may have appeared boring.
Another great compliment that I have for FFXII is the music. When I played the game, the music always reminded me of FFIV and Chrono Trigger. I always felt myself getting absorbed into the music which is easy to forget about when playing the game because it fits so well. Overall, I guess it depends on your definition of over rated. To what degree can a game that is 100% worth playing be over rated? For all of the criticisms, who can outright say that they feel like playing this game was a waste of time.
