God Hand? What is it like?

I was thinking of getting godhand, but had a few questions. it it an areana fighter like the bouncer (hated) or do you get to move around sorta like DMC? is it long lasting? lastly is it fun?

oh and its between .hack//GU, and This so what is better. thanks!

Even though it's one of my favorite PS2 games it seems to be a love it or hate it kind of game. IGN gave the game a 3 while some sites gave it 8's. Also alot of people on these forums have discontent for the game. My suggestion is to root on the Internet and find some gameplay videos.

Agreed. I like this game but it's very hard with poor graphics, what really counts here is the challenge and humor.

I have always been fond of "beat 'em ups" and there is a serious deficit of them now, so the score is somewhat padded due to that reason. All in all, GH is still a good, enjoyable game. Yes, the character moves slow but what "beat ' em up" main character (from Double Dragon, Final Fight, et al) moves with any degree for speed. And yes, it is linear but it is lengthy moreso than many games out today and you can customize your character's fight moves (which is great for replay value). However, this is my opinion.

Read a few opinions and reviews (if you care what others feel) and try it out. It was only $30 when it came out, so I am positive the game is extremely inexpensive now.

I much enjoyed the game.

It is challenging...

The camera stays behind you at all times.

You can customize your combo with various moves.

There's also these attacks that do great damage or hit multiple enemies, but those have limited use.

You gain money to buy new moves... Health Upgrades, Increase the length of your combo, and Increase your other meter.

The other meter builds as you get hit or you beat enemies and when it's high enough you can activate it and...

Well... Basically, it's like Devil Trigger. Increased Speed, Strength, and you're invincible.

There's diverse bosses and some funny ones. (Dwarf Power rangers... Drag Queens)

The game is linear... but some things are thrown in levels to spice it up a little bit...

Such as metal pipes, red barrels that can be thrown and explode, mini game where you shoot pirate ships, a battle arena,

a casino to earn money, and so on.

One more thing, enemies will sometimes randomly transform into demons. They're hard to beat, but will usually drop

a new move for you.

I picked up God Hand out of the bargain bin a while back and have been playing it off and on and have gotten most of the way through it. Most replies here have pretty much spelled it out. Yeah it's got some very noticeable flaws, but the bottom line is it's fun to play. Maybe my favorite thing about the game is that it's pretty hilarious. I've done this about 50 times but I still laugh every time I do it. It's got a good challenge in the main campaign and even better challenge in the arena battles. I think Gamespot's score of 8 is about right on with this game. For the price ($15) I'm definitely happy with it :D

The ONLY good thing about God Hand is that as you earn money you can buy new moves to build your own combo's and stuff out of. Other than that the game sucks. The guy moves like a tank and there is no blocking(like dmc) you can only press a button and evade. However since you have to turn left or right before you move forward or backwards it sucks immensely. The graphics are crappy with a heavy emphasis on arcade style.

I would choose any other game over God Hand but .hack GU just happens to be one of the best action rpg's on the system. If you can get .hack GU 1-3 then you are in for an awesome treat. If you cant get all 3 I wouldnt bother. It has amazing graphics, awesome music, and cool mechanics._AbBaNdOn

I got this game some time last year for like 18 bucks and i thought the game was great. I was afraid to buy it at first because i've heard negative feedbacks about this game. People said this game was hard but i beat normal mode in three days and about a week for hard mode. I really didn't think this game was that hard (more like easy to medium), so i recommend this game to any beat em fan. I felt that this was the best beat em up game for ps2 and namco's urban reign comes in second.
