Your best bet would be Killzone. Nice graphics and gameplay, competent story. You won't regret playing this game, although a minor gripe is that it is too easy.
I'd recommend Red Faction 1, all the TimeSplitters games, Black, and Killzone. Deus Ex on the PS2 is good, but it was dumbed down a lot from the PC version. I'd highly recommend getting the PC version instead--considered one of the greatest games of all time--which can run on pretty much any PC and is very cheap.
Timesplitters future perfect...it has co-op and it's pretty cool, has a create-a-map which it's limited but good enough to create a fun map to play with friends, has it's funny touch too you can see that by playing the story mode and checking the character design when playing multiplayer.
