Whats the greatest moment in video game history? I think (as cliche as it might sound) that sephiroths murder of aeris really proved that a game could have depth in it's story and its characters. What do you think?

Yeah dude thanks for that, just completely ruined it for me. 

For me, it was the ending of FF7. Really, that whole game was an experience, though, a 99 hour experience at that....

A close second would be the ending of MGS3. It is one of the most emotional charged things I have ever seen, not restricted to just video games either. 

The GTA series.

Started out as a birds eye, free roaming title(First of its kind)

Evolved into a vast 3d, living, breathing enviroment. (Again first of its kind)

Was the reason for many games that would have been great had the benchmark not been set so high.

For me, GTA was is a great moment in video games history

In God of war II the battle against Perseus is awesome.

the death of Aerith in FFVII.

the final battle with Liquid Snake in MGS.

The Flying colossus in Shadow of the colossus.

and much more, but this are some of the greatest for me.

kingdom hearts: the end(people shed tears looking at the scene...in a good way)

kingdom hearts 2: the beginning (that songs still haunts me in my sleep)

I have 4

1. FFVII Ending

2. Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 ending. (Seriously, I felt sad for the 1st one.)

3. The end of Devil May Cry 3.

ffx in generall loved that game.

and when you got the chainsaw in doom ... the first game ever to feature a chainsaw in an fps... cahnged history... like they say in gt trailer vids

CLEARLY....

The coolest moment in video game history is the first time you saw Dante Juggle his oppenents with ebony and ivory.

A CLOSE second is Kratos's first button sequence with the hydra.  I actually jumped up while watching the first video and was like, "HOLY CRAP YES!"  

In legend of Mana for ps 1

learning the language of those little bears and talking to them

that was INGENIOUS

in xenosaga when u finally defeat Albedo with Jr.

what he says before he dies is just amazing

i think it was when you are playing ff7 for the third time and start understanding everything ( after dirge of cerberus )

 or

 when the ninja robot try to stop the metal gear in the ps1

the video where Zero fights Sigma in mmx4 ( i think..)

I'd say the release of 8-bit consoles... they spawned a generation of complexity that didn't exist before...

In ATARI games, for instance, you'd always play for scores, never an ending. The only ending was "no more tries left".

When Sega System and NES came out, you had more colors, more graphics and MUSIC, not blips. And in most games, a number of tries to make it to the end, and perhaps a continue. And that was it, you make it to the end or not.

So finally there was a REWARD for your efforts. Since then games improved with save opportunities we didn't have before (except in rpg games)
