It's not legal and it will void your warranty. There are several modding methods from chipping the console to swap cards, and the ever so ugly flip top (which turns your fat PS2 into a flip top contraption instead of the motorized disc tray). I have a HDD from FFXI and I use that 100 gigs to store my legally purchased imported games on it. I'm not gonna speak of the specifics as that is illegal.
