How does FFXII compare to KOTOR?

Basically, Starwars: Kotor is my favorite game ever. But ever since my xbox broke, and my PC is a piece of crap, I was wondering how Final Fantasy 12 compares to KOTOR. Graphically, fighting, fun etc. I've just been aching to find something that would feed my KOTOR needs, and I was wondering if this could be close?

Wel i don't wanna be a smarta$$ and tell you buy KOTOR 2 becuse you said your xbox is broken. \I've completed both KOTOR games and their are great indeed. I also played FInal Fantasy X so i suggest you buy FFX for Ps2 and give it a try you won't be dissapointed. Try to get deep in the atmosphere of the game and i"m sure it's gonna be one of your favourites. BIG TIME....

imo FFXII is like KOTOR with bad characters, a boring story, and a less fun combat system (although they are simmilar)

I did recommend FFX just because i didn't play FFXII yet. I'm sure he won't be dissapointed with FFX that's all.

Sounds like you didn't understand how to play the game properly and never paid any attention to the story.

KotR and FFXII really aren't that much a like.  FFXII is excellent, KotR is satisfying 

Unless you give time and devotion to FF XII you wont catch how it is played, thus you will think its crap. Give it time, and test every option in combat and you will see how deep it is.

KOTOR is not as deep as FF XII. It has a simple combat system, am uninteresting story (and this comes from a huge SW fan) but it does alot in terms of customization, though as in FF XII you can make all chars the same. The worsest part of KOTOR is that as in all the "build your story" games, the story ends up being weak and lame. FF XII may not have the Hollywood themed story as in previous FF games but if you liked Shakespeare books as Macbeth and Hamlet you will like FF XIIs story. They have many points in common. 

How about Rogue Galaxy? How does that compare to KOTOR?

Nothing like it at all. RG is more like Star Ocean and  the "Tales of" games than what KOTOR is.

Is there any PS2 game that even comes close to resembling the awesomeness of KOTOR?

You are not going to find another KOTOR.

I'd recommend a PS2 if you had a XBOX only cause there are alot of great games to play on it and it's cheap.   Of course you could play KOTOR 2 (good, but not as good as the first) on the XBOX 360 backwards compatibility.  

Or, go pick up Bioware's old games (or ones made with their engines).   Neverwinter Nights, Baldurs Gate, etc all play on ancient PC's and are the real ancestors to KOTOR.

Smetimes you just gotta buck up and try a new kind of game friend. The only games like Knights are on the Xbox Knights 2 and Jade Empire. Final Fantasy is a lot of fun it will give you a long adventure and a sense of accomplishment, if you are reluctant abouth XII then get X you could get it for ten to fifteen bucks, it's one of the best PS2 games out there. If you like the listen and respond dialogue and SciFi setting of Knights get an old PC game called Star Control 2 the greatest space exploration game ever, nothing like Knights but much better.JoshuaOlson

Sc2 was great, but good luck getting it to run on anything built after 1994.

As far as PS2 titles, it's like the others say, nothing really like KOTOR.  Rogue Galaxy and FFXII are both fun, but neither is at all like KOTOR.
