I've not heard that, but what can they release, obviously, God of War 2, but what else, wouldnt the developers want to turn to the newest console asap.
I'm sure they're gonna keep making games, but they'll mostly be ports of stuff that gets released on all the next-gen consoles, much like what's been going on recently.

Yep... thats exactly what i heard as well.
Due to the fact that the ps3 is backward compatible and the popularity of the ps2... there's very little reason for Sony and the 3rd party developers not to make games for the ps2. This was also the case with the ps1.
Eventually, ps2 games will stop but it won't happen any time soon until 09. Whether or not the future ps2 games will be any good or not is another question though.
kool thats what i thought to. i have a friend with a x box and i told him to sell it and get a ps but he didnt want to get another system thatwill be worthless
Many years to come! The PS2 has over 100 million units sold, developers would be crazy to stop making some form of games for it. Look at the Dreamcast. It's finally dead next month after how many years out of business.
I do hope that PS2 games are continued to be produced, for the simple fact that no 'next-gen' system interests me in the least. The PS2 had no doubt the most extensive line-up of titles and carried the largest variety of games. I'm not sure if we're going to be seeing many God of Wars or other AAA titles after this past year. I'll be interesting to see what odd ball games get squeaked out prior to the system's death. It'll be missed as its successor has about as much going for it as my career in the adult film industry. As developers begin to see the increased popularity of the 360, Wii and PS3, the number of titles is going to quickly decrease, so it remains to be seen if by 2009 there is anything worth buying. Screw it, I'm waiting till the next next-generation of platforms. Maybe PC gaming will come back...hello..anyone? *sigh*
Based on install base compared to PS1 at its same cycle then for at least another year. Sony is very smart by supporting its consoles for years to come. This is what makes PS3 so attractive, you know it has the possibility to last for 10 years. Developers have not even scratched the surface of what it can do.
PS2 games right now look as good as PS3 games do right now... I know that will not be the case in the future but that is just another reason why they should keep making games for it...

Well no, they don't, but so far there is nothing worth buying the PS3 for. Until a larger and better library is released, I'll stay with my PS2.
ps2 games should be released for quite some time to come. those who think that GoW2 is the only good game coming out should think again. the ps2 will still have a healthy lineup this year, with titles such as medal of honor: vanguard, burnout dominator, tomb raider, and a total of 50+ more titles being released by july of this year alone. i don't think you can expect for the system to die off anytime soon.
Yeah I heard about that, and I think it's probably true. The developers will keep on making PS2 games for a long time because a lot of people didn't buy the PS3 and just kept the PS2, and also the PS2 is really popular.
They were actually talking about this on NPR, of all places, where they were talking about the next-gen console wars and the PS2's dominance over the newer consoles.

You can't really know how much Life is left but sony said alot.

Sorry if I don't believe all that Sony has to say anymore. Love the PS2, but the company is arguably trash. Murdock shut up any ways the ps2 might die this year cause their are no games that will come right after march when the PS3 is massivly produced
they kept making games for ps1 until 2004 so i bet they will make games for a while longer although the last year or so of ps1 releases were all sports games

It doesn't matter how many PS3's are out, they are readily accessible to consumers as we speak, but no one is really buying them. I'd suspect games will be made after March and into 2008. How far into the next year, I cannot say.
I'd say that they'd probably go for a year or a year-and-a-half, because by then most people will have probably have updated to PS3, so they'd put their efforts into next-gen games. They might still make PS2 ports, but I doubt that PS2 games will be made in vast amounts beyond 2008.
sorry to say this buti think 500$ is way way to much for a game system. and i think alot of people think that too. i had friends who bought the 360 and got rid of PS2 cause PS3 was to much and 360 was cheaper
