Just want to know cuz I'm thinking about getting a ps2 just to play guitar hero but it would suck if right after I buy it support drops. Sorry if I'm not up to date with E3 and everything.
God of War II was probably the last sony made game. If your talking about third parties though, give it another year and there wont be any more notable PS2 games coming out any more. Man Hunt 2 will probably be the last big one.
they will still be making for about 2 3 years i hope it reach 3 but then after that we still have a huge library of games that we missed that will keep u bz gor 10 more years
Soul Nomad &the World Eaters will be big enough for its fans, like Disgaea
also if i would be a company ( not Sony, a third party game developer ) i would still make games until PS3 really reaches its potential. because PS2 roughly sold more than 120 millions, a harsh division to count gamers, still 60 millions, so you can sell your games easier if you make a game appealing to gamers, instead of graphics fans. look at Koei for example, they make Orochi Warriors for PS2 and X360. their aim is obvious, to sell the game more. but ofcourse it cant continue forever, thats natural. do you see any game makers who still make games for snes ? i think 2008 is the last year for ps2 because of succesful E3 this year.
It seems games are going to keep coming out for at least another year. That's good news and just to clarify I really meant games in general not just from Sony.
The PS2 is in its 7th year. Sony is touting the "10 year life cycle" thing. I'd give it another 3 years before they officially retire it. Presumably by then, the PS3 will have taken the PS2's spot as the most popular gaming console. .... Hopefully. I personally am lovin' my PS3. Heavenly sword
They'll probably stop making games in the summer next year then drop the price of the PS3 and make more games for PS3 so it takes the place of the PS2. They better make the PS3 like $300 so it'll start compition with XBOX 360 and the Wii.
Who really knows? Im thinking for atleast 2 or three more years. If I remember correctly the last game for the PSOne was EA's soccer game made in 2004 (I think).
Well look at how long it was before Xbox stop making Xbox games. That will be an indication to PS2 stoping their production of ps2 games.JKoBnZ
Not really, the xbox flopped so they had all the more reason to force launch the next-gen. The PS2 on the other hand was and still is highly beneficial to sony.
Where microsoft had no reason to continue with xbox games sony does. This alone will gieve the PS2 another 6 months over the xbox easy
Sony's games might stop pretty soon for it, but other companies will keep making PS2 games until they can't sell anymore. I kept buying PS games a few years after PS2 was released, I don't know if they were brand-new but oh well. Anyway what I'm going to do is keep gaming on the PS2 and buy all the good games I missed out on (they are now less than $20). I just ordered God of War. :D

Have no fear, Sony PS2 is good for atleast a year or so
