Im almost on 40, and im barely on a hunt in some cave that some stupid kid said to go. Also, what levels do your characters roughly need to be to beat the game??
i played for about 12 hours untill i said "no more". i couldn't bare the story, the characters were bad, and the battle system wasn't very good imo. pretty much the only reason i lasted so long is necause Balthier is awesome (only good character in the game imo)

 I totally agree, and im a huge FF fan. But this one was horrible. I did about 30 hours.
I'd have to agree, XII was supposed to be better, but to the die hard FF fan it's just not quite there. I've got about 15 hours in it and then got sidetracked by better games like Rogue Galaxy and Disgaea because I had just bought one and hadn't touched the other for a little while. I disagree though on the storyline and and characters...when I get the new dot hack G.U. tomorrow and then beat it this is the next game I plan to start working on and on average you hear people who just beat the game taking around 70 hours, but if you do all sidequests and hunts as well as find all 99 "secrets" in ffxii (these aren't worth the time it takes as most are pointless and are only listed in the limited edition walkthrough for filler space) but if you do all those it can take near 100+ is what I've heard.
Ohboy.. I got 192 hours... Lvl 78.. all espers... a lot of exploring... 63 outta 80 rare monsters.. could've gone to the final stage about 100 hours ago...
Spent most of my time trying to find the rare monsters and items to make the special weapons... playing withou a walkthrough is no joke
50 something hours put into it. I got about a third of the monster hunts done, but I just wanted to finish the game, since it felt like it was dragging for me.

Woah there pal. You shouldn't try speaking for everyone. The story and development of XII was pretty sparse, but the gameplay was the best I've seen in an RPG, ever.
i havent beaten it yet, but i have 65 hours in. my main characters are lvl 53, my backup are lvl 30. you can beat the game in 50-60 hours, but the side quests and finding things in the game really pour on the hours
i'm on hour 45 and It feels like i've barely scratched the surface of this golioth. i like this game but it is far more tedious than any of the previous games in the series. i spend more time tryig to level up my characters than i do on the actual missions.Â
about 120 hours but i completed all side quest and killed Yiazmat tooo....that took way too long i dont know about the rest of you guys but i liked FFXII,....but when I started playing FFX again...I kinda saw what you guys were talking about......
