how old is solid snake?

i´m confused because he looks exactly the same in MGS2 and MGS3, even though there´s like a 30 year time lapse.

MGS3 has the original Big Boss being played during the Vietnam War era. MGS1, 2, and 4 are all Solid Snake, a clone of Big Boss.

Solid Snake killed Big Boss in hand to hand combat in one of the original Metal Gear games.

So it's MGS3, Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops for the PSP, the Metal Gear games, Metal Gear Solid, MGS2, then MGS4.

and im still confused

Next up somewhere "Solid Snake" is cloned from Big Boss's DNA.

Somewhere in the original MGS on the NES Solid Snake kills Big Boss (so our MGS3 hero is now dead and we're left with his kinda son made from his DNA, you following?)

Ok onto MGS1 (PS1) we now play as Solid Snake and the same applies for MGS2 (PS2) and the fourth coming MGS4 (PS3) as to how old Solid Snake is? Pass maybe in his 30's?

We only first saw Solid Snake in MG1, by then he was in his mid-20s. In MGS2, Snake is already a middle-aged man. But because of FOXDIE, he aged alot through-out the timespan from MGS2 till MGS4. Mathematically, he would only be in mid-40s or near 50s. But because of FOXDIE, he's basically in his 70s... akin to Big Boss during MG and MG2.

It's simple =) It's because Solid Snake in MGS3, he was even younger than MGS1 and MGS2, which means, MGS3 it's before whole MGS1 and MGS2. Actually if you did played and understand really the MGS3, Solid Snake mentions they will create clones of Solid Snake...so your guessing who are those Solid Snakes from MGS1 and MGS2 =)
