i was just wondering like what happened to the ps1 they stopped making games for them, in a few years time do you think the are going to do the same with ps2.
Well it's not gonna suck that much. keep in mind when the ps2 came out and how long the console life has already lasted us. X-box and gamecube owners didn't even get to enjoy such a long console life. This is why I am a Sony fan (not to be confused with fanboy though) because all of there consoles life cycles have lasted me at least a decade. They still make new games for the system well after the next-gen is already out.Just be thankful they didn't stop making ps2 games the second PS3 came out like the other consoles did. Not trying to trash the other consoles, just stating a fact :)
ofcourse the ps2 regime will end. infact it will be quite soon...dont be sad people, ps2 was one of the most consistend selling consoles ever and its amazing it made it this far =) infact im still interested in ps2 games today =) will it? no doubt about it.
I don't think it will die out just yet. Isn't the PS2 still the best selling console atm? It was at least until recently. I think it has about 2 or 3 years of life left, but it will be winidng down over those 2 or 3 years.
well sony is kinda kinda smart. I'm thinking they knew the ps3 was going to be kinda expensive, but since the ps2 is in over 200 million peoples homes they can create titles for it and make revenue while they lose it for ps3. i think once ps2 stops getting games the ps3 will have plenty more games and the fans will be able to afford the ps3 as well. I want one so bad but just can't seem to come up with a AAA title to warrant the purchase. 2008 though, should be a very good year indeed for Sony and it's ps3. Good luck to ya Sony. If only for competition to help maintain competitive prices in the gaming industry is why I hope you don't go under, besides that but I have remained loyal the PS brand. This year I'm cheating on her a bit, b/c I must own all three. I already have a wii, ps2, DS, it's now time for ps3 and 360.
Once the PS3 becomes more accessible, I'm sure the developers will slowly switch over to the other console... it's like all technology, out with the old and in with the new.
Sony is smart enough to keep supporting the former console while the present console is gaining in the market thus not forceing people to rush out and purchase the latest console ASAP. This allows people to slowly make he change if they chose to. I already have a PS3 and still play a lot of PS2 games on it even now. They could support the PS2 for another year or two maybe longer.
eventually they will stop making games for ps2, because eventually having a next gen console will be like having a ps2, in other words, there will be no need for ps2 games, at least not till like another year or months
Releases for the PS2 are already slowing to a trickle. Don't fret though, there is such a large back log of GREAT games that it will kepp any gamer busy for years. The focus is definately shifting to the ps3. It's about time too, the ps3 is in dire need of some quality games....
I think Sony still has New releases all the way into 2008 and as far as I know Sony makes 8$ for every PS2 console sold. Good point about the Wii Sony plans on anouncing game similiar to the Wii-motes system a week or so before Christmas. :-D
I really wish people would stop calling them "next gen". They are NOT next gen, they are current and practically obsolete gen. They contain processors that no one would buy in a pc, they contain video cards that are on clearance now...
Wake the hell up!
Listen to me - break out the old SNES, spin up that PS2 that you just bought all new games for, and leave the "next gen" games to your PC when they all come out for windows in 3 months. For 19.99 at WALMART.
