I am a HUGE fan of fighting games, but i dont really like rap, so is Def Jam worth getting for me? How deep is the fighting engine? And is the frame rate really that bad? HELP PLZ
It's a decent game, has a nice feature that you can mix fight styles together, plenty of coustomisation [even if it is phat farm crap] and awsome enviroment attacks. If you' vegot sence tho, get sommet like tekken if you don't allready
this is one of the best fighting games ive ever played, i dont enjoy rap or anything but itsa great fighting game mixed in with wrestling and the blazing mvoes are awesome and customization is good.
Hey Athens, how're you doing man? Well, Def Jam Fight For NY is worth getting if your into fighting and stuff I guess. Though, I'd recommend games like Tekken , Mortal Kombat or Virtua Fighter. Probably even some of the WWE games ... Def Jam: Fight For NY is worth getting if you find it for $20/$25 or below that. I'd just say go for some other fighting games.
Hey man, good to hear from u again. So its not that great huh.... Damn... That blows cause I cant find the 4th virtua fighter anywhere, I alrdy own Tekken And S-Calibur, Guilty Gear (New 1) and even that DBZ game every1 hates so much lol. Mortal Kombat was a different story for me casue I have been waiting for Armageddon since it was announced, and then reviews said it was bad, and then I rented it and was severely dissapointed.... So any other good Fighting Game suggestions?
Man if u love fighting games!!! then yes i would say is a must have, is so fun playing this game, the only RAP stuff this game has are the fighters, but come on if u like blood, fights, balls to the walls, YES GO BUY IT!!!! u will never get tired of kicking FAT JOE's ass. :P its a good game!! 8)

The beats that prodcers make for rap music is awesome. I dont like the rappers, or their stupid video's for the most part but man can they make some awesome beats. Guys like Pharell and Timbaland no way in hell do they suck. So I think if people say they hate rap theyare just being close minded. And I will let you in on another secret, girls love it.
Now as for Def Jam as a game. I like it alot. You get to create a character and choose his fightingsty/ean as you progress through the game you pick up othersty/es which gives you new moves and stuff. You will definately go through the game atleast a few times to experiment with all the sty/es. I wish Icon had been released on ps2 I want to play that game bad. If i ever get a next gen system thats gonna be one of the first games I hunt down to play. I've never had 2 player battles with it though and its pretty much 2d since you cant side step. Well there are big sqaure stages where you have tag and 4 person rumbles. I think Def Jam offers something different than tekken or virtual fighter...something that makes it worth owning over either of those turds which i consider to be the bottom of the pile just above naruto ultimate ninja. My fav fighters are soul calibur, dbz bt, and MK(not for its fighting heh), just to let you know where im coming from.
DJF4NY is a great game, especially the new way of finishing your opponent, so instead of kicking him until his gauge is zero, you have to use a finishing move. I like this game XD (or to be honest, I USED TO like it, now it's old stuff)
