I would have to say that it is a false statement if you heard that, more likely VII would be remade if anything.
I said that because i found a video in Game Trailers showing a prototype of the game for PS2 that's all, so i want to be sure but thanks to all of you for the info

Not officialy. It's a possbility though, but it's not very likely. VII would be a more likely canidate.

from what i have heard, FFVII is the one that is going to be re-made, though i don't think Square Enix has announced anything definite yet
