my ps2 cant load dvds any more. it is also having problems with games. i doubt i could fix it my self and i dont know who will fix it. the games will load after opening the tray roughly 5 times. since the ps2 is cheap it would cost the same as having someone repair it right? so is it worth it or no since ps2 might be done next year?erodger
well it's really simple, do you have $600 to spend for a PS3 or $130 for a PS2?....if you have the money then you might as well get a PS3 and just play your ps2 games on that.
My personal choice, wait 2 years then get the ps3, buy a ps2 for now.
Hi,
I have heard that Australia had imported PS2 from Europe and the thing is ps3 in Australia was made in Australia meaning that some or most ps2 games wont be able to work on ps3, true? or not?. n Does same go for America?

$600 vs. $130. You make the call.
The Emo-Chip scare is bunk. They're just trying to play on your fears that you won't be able to play old games... which is slightly silly when you figure that buying a new console should be about buying the new experience, not do a bunch of retro-gaming on state of the art hardware. Being able to play the back catalog is important, I still own a PS1 game or two and I know there are a lot of people out there who have even more... but they will make an emulator if the chip can't be installed to make old titles play. The debate is over as far as this being an important quality in the Next-Gen consoles, the people have spoken so it'll be or the console will fail out. That's just a fact.
But for all of the bluster prior to launch, and for all of the boasting about "HOME" and other services, I still don't see one title on the PS3 that makes me say "Gotta Have It". Not like when the PS2 came out, with SOCOM and "Gran Turismo 3"... call me jaded, but I don't see the software. STILL. After how long?
To me, the economics of the situation are clear - The library for the PS2 is outstanding, so you gotta have one of those... especially if you've already got a bunch of games for it. But PS3? Have you really got to get on that "2nd Life" rip-off and decorate your apartment with unlockable furniture? Anything that might motivate me like GH3 or Rock Band are going to come out on the PS2, why bother getting the more expensive, bulky, no-software-havin' paperweight for all that extra cash (which I could dump into about a dozen or more games now that hey're coming down in price)?
Is it really a question??? C'mon...
