I've been wanting to play the Jak series for a long time, but the problem was that I didnt want to buy all 3 of them since they were all pretty pricey if you added them up and I had some other games I wanted to play. Now that the prices have been lowered, I was wondering if Jak and Daxter is really a must play in order to understand the story. i've looked at both Jak II and 3, and they're pretty much my kind of game because of the shooting, the platforming and the adventure. When I looked at Jak and Daxter, it didnt really catch my attention, mainly because theres not as much action as i can see in its other sequels. I just was wondering if I could still understnad the story if I started off by playing Jak II, or if playing Jak and Daxter is a must. thanQ very much!

Even though elements of the first game are referenced in later ones, you can easily play jak 2 first if you like ( I did)

However you definitely shouldnt play jak 3 unless you have gone thru jak 2. All in all though playing all isnt really all that expensive... they are everywhere for cheap.

Alright, it kills me to say it but you don't really have to play Jak & Daxter to enjoy the legacy. The game is mainly one of those Crash Bandicoot platformers whereas Jak 2 & 3 will remind you a little of the GTA series. If you're gonna play, play Jak 2 first (it's pretty hard) then Jak 3 so you get a full understanding of the story.

Oh and you don't need to touch Jak X at all. Just focus on 2 & 3 and you should be good. Dont' count the first one out too soon though. It's a great game in it's own right and easily one of the best platformers I've played.
