Just got a PS2, any suggestions?

I bought my friend's ps2 (cuz he has a PS3) for $50.  This includes two controllers, a memory card, a stand, and (i guess) a modem? (or a hard drive) im not really sure what it is, but it sticks out of the back of it.  PS its the big one not the slim line.

i was just wondering what games i should buy(im a little late).  i plan on getting okami, and god of war 1+2.

any suggestions?

well, ive got RE4 on my GC, and i've played GTA to death on my PC.  I kinda like platformers (hence my gc) and was kinda thinkin of Ratchet and Clank, and Jak 3

i also like FPS, but the only ones ive played on the PS2 have controlled HORRIBLY.

For Action : DMC and DMC3 : SE.
For FPS : Red Faction, TimeSplitters 2 and TimeSplitters : Future Perfect.

For fighting : VF4

For puzzle/time wasting/inebriated play : Any Bust-A-Move

RPG : FF12 & DQ8

Tactics : Growlanser Generations

I usually go to the complete list of PS2 games, and sort them by score. Read the user comments/reviews - it really helps me make descisions.

Congratulations for buying a PS2. although there are thousands of great games for PS2. bUt the first game you want to start your Ps2 collection with should be God of War and Prince of Persia. These two are the best action adventure games on PS2. if you prefr RPGs you probably should get Final Fantasy X and XII. Also consider Okami and the entire Xenosaga series. trust me you will truly enjoy Xenosaga series. And not t mention the GTA series. Here's a list of your first 10 games.

call of duty 3

and

mgs3:subsistence (although if your planning on playing this online ud better hurry up because they're taking down the U.S. [Canada included] servers on April2nd)

Just be careful because some of the newer games (God of War 1 & 2) might not work on the old PS2.Lava_Lord

Try Mercenaries, MOH Frontline, Suikoden V and III, Cold Fear, DQVIII, FFXII and X, Shadow Of The Colossus, Dark Cloud 2, MGS 2 and 3,Tales of Eternia/Legendia, GT4, NFSMW, Bully, Growlanser and so many others that I forgot!
