Exactly, it's truly just an average game. Surprising that it took off into a franchise so quickly.

It's a great game and it had the potentional(sp?) to become one of the greatest FPS on the Playstation 2 but the game was not polished at all. So many bugs, so many annoying glitches and IMO it had not-such-an-impressive frame-rate and you can't jump! When I first got this game, I didn't really care about the jumping feature but then as I progressed I thought that it would have been good if they DID add an jumping feature. Though the main thing that was annoying about the game was about how it was so messy and was not polished at all. IMO, if you ever make a shooter, it must be polished properly.

I really enjoyed it (wasn't one of those fools who automatically hyped it up to be the greatest game ever, I just applied a degree of hype that it would be a game that I would enjoy) it had its fair share of bugs and glitches, but overall, I enjoyed the gameplay and the atmosphere that it had, and was my most-played PS2 game between 2004 and when I picked up my PS3.

I enjoyed Liberation even more.

It sold well enough to become a Greatest Hits title over here in the US, as of 2006 it was the highest selling game in numerous Eastern-European countries, and I believe it also became the European equivalent of a Greatest Hits title.

So, it sold well enough to become a franchise.

It sucked that it didnt have offline multiplayer but its pretty fun. The game pissed me of majorly until i figured out that you had to go for head shots. I like the AI in the game. They dont just stand there, they duck, and move around. I went through the game atleast 4 times just to play each character. Thats 3 times more than any other FPS game i have played. I just want an FPS that lets you attack bad guys from different angels. Just about every FPS uses invisable or real walls and pathways and its just a stupid shooting gallery game. Ghost Recon 1 was sweet because you could put one team of guys one one side of an enemy camp and the other team on another side of the camp and then just open up and kill everything in a cool crossfire. Havent seen any FPS copy that yet not even ghost recon.

I'd say Killzone is a good game in all rights - sure its had problems but the sequal is set to silence them; after all Sony do want this to be a Halo killer

I just got teh game in late feburary and i have to say the best online game that i have for PS2. The campaign sucks though cuz it seems like it will never end and it has dum A.I. But teh great online experience makes it worth the 15-20 dollars you will spend.

i love killzone too. but it does have its share of issues that could've been fixed. possibly could have been patched, but i'm not sure its gonna happen. the greatest strength is its atmosphere and a choice between characters. the guns use bullets instead of lasers. etc.

To the guy who said, no jump. Timesplitters doesnt have jump too and is a great game. Killzone plays similar to TS, but its different because its less arcade oriented and more stop-hide-shoot oriented game.

I see mixed results on this game.  Once and for all, is this game good or not?  I see so many copies of the game available in stores.  I like a decent FPS game where I can go out hide and kill dudes.  Is the head shot implemented well in the game?  Is it a long game?  Is it fun to play?  Is it better than Black or Killswitch?( I have both of those games and lost interest quickly)

i'd say buy it cheap and used on ebay or amazon and take the plunge. killzone is an odd mixed of good and bad. it might fulfill your needs for a hide and shoot FPS, but you might want the game to be more b/c the potential for Killzone to be better can easily be seen. personally, i'm both satisfied and disappointed by the game. but overall, its an FPS that's worth playing (at very least, for its atmosphere).
