Kingdom Hearts 2 Popularity Phenomenon

Can someone explain to me why Kingdom Hearts 2 is more popular than the original Kingdom Hearts?  I've played and beaten the first one 3 times because I love it so much, but I bought the second one and quit playing because I hated it so much.  The entire thing is one long movie with 10 second intervals of game-play - it's ridiculous.  Yes, I've gotten past the horrible beginning, but the game doesn't really get much better.  In my opinion, this is a huge step backward from the first game.  So, can anyone tell me why KH2 is supposedly better than KH?Syko7

1. it's made by square enix. no explanation needed.

2. it's got good graphics. again, self-explanatory.

3. it's easy as hell even in proud mode. why? many gamers today like easy games. -> e.g. okami.

The are both great games and i would never tell somebody to only play kh2.  The only thing kh2 did better than kh1 for me was gummi ship battles.   They really improved it alot but i would still play KH1 gummi ship battles.

 Did you ever read that he was asking KH2 vs KH1?? All that you mentioned, KH1 has it, so you fail...

As for the topic: I think it's because KH2 has more memorable characters, the Org XIII were cool enemies and not to mention lot of teens can relate more to a non-kid-looking main character

One of them is because of age, Part II is much more current.

I agree with your view on the game second though, it feels like a crappy straight to video sequel of a good first rate Disney movie. What a disappointing game. Part of the blame could be Disney's fault, they may have prevented Square from altering the Disney stories which resulted with the lame repeated worlds. I would have not mind going back to Agrabah if the story was new.

Yes some of the conventions are better, like the rotating camera and the more dynamic battles. But the game has a serious problem with easyness and the boring story. I seriously wanted to kill Sora and his dumbass friends.

KH2 has evrything better. Better graphics, more ff characters (hey even setzer there!!!) A better story (and what a story) Better game play (I just love those costumes) Better Gummy ship (man I just love gummy ships, reminds me of star fox). Better music better character devellopment hmmm.... better... stuff

I guess the only thing I don't like is winnie's world (not again)

I can't wait for Final Mix!!!! That's gonna be awesome, more kh2 goodness
