I just got a PS2 game, & my friend gave me his MGS 2 Substance , & What a game , no wonder people got excited at the PS3 announcement when they saw MGS4 heading there. Great Story . any I really liked the game , so as i was surfing the web Idk if this info is right or wrong , but is MGS3 Snake Eater the same as MGS3 Subsistance , or is Subsistance like a Complete Snake Eater + Snake Eater Expansion , , in other words , should I get Snake Eater & Subsistance or Subsistance only ? as to MGS2 Sons of Liberty, should i get it if i find it while I'm getting MGS3 ?

Subsistence is the re-release of Snake Eater, it contains more 'extra' content along with a new camera angle for the main story mode.  The online mode in Subsistance will be shutting down soon but it is still worth getting because also packed in is Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, two games which haven't seen an American release before this set.  As for MGS2:SOL if you already have Substance don't get SOL because it is the same game but with less extra content.

Definatly get Subsistance.  In my opinion the new camera alone makes it worthwhile plus you get the extra games and a few other goodies.

Yeah stick with Substance and Subsistance.  Same story as Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater, just released later with more content.

MGS 3 is the prequel to the entire franchise, so no worries storywise, however if you want to play the series chronologically, play MGS3 Subsistance, then MG and MG2 (which is packaged in with Subsistance) then Metal Gear Solid for the Playstation (you'll be lucky to find it cheap), and finally MGS2.  The Substance and Subsistance releases are just basically re-releases but packed with tons of extra content.

Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes for the Gamecube is the re-release of MGS for the playstation.  If you can get a hold of either of these games, I suggest doing it.  MGS for the PS1 is considered the best but the improved graphics and gameplay for the Gamecube version make up for its other shortcomings.  And there is Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops for the PSP, it is essentially the game following MGS3, so if you are able to play this game, I suggest doing that also.  The story is somewhat disconnected from the rest, however it does show how Big Boss created Foxhound.

Get MGS 3 subsistence. Despite the fact the on-line mode will be shut down, you'll still get allot more from subsistence than the original MGS 3 SE.

:D

It isn't clear however I think it is just because it doesn't have enough people playing it to continue the service.

Yep... that is the reason why Konami is shutting down the server. Too bad.
