I have two PS2's, one is a newer slim one, and the other is a regular PS2. I have an official PS2 8 MB memory card. I was just recently using it to play FFXII. Yesterday, as usual, my PlayStation 2recognized my PS2 memory card. I was transferring some save data from my PS1 memory card to my PS2 memory card. After that both of my PS2's suddenly would not recognize my PS2 memory card. I don't know if had to do with me transferring my saved data or not,but about 10 minutes later when I tried to use it,it just suddenly stopped detecting the card. Both of my PS2's would not detect the memory card in any of the four slots.

Is there any method I can do in order to make the PS2 recognize my memory card? I really need that save data in order to continue playing Final Fantasy XII.

More importantly, if I buy a new memory card do you think my PlayStation 2 will recognize it? Should I give it a try? I don't see how all four of the memory card slots could be damaged, and I didn't treat the slots roughly.

Thanks, Brad

You transfered your PS1 data to your PS2 memory card? I didn't even know that was possible.

Never heard of that happening by transferring PS1 saves, but it sounds like your memory card is corrupted if it won't work on either of your consoles. I'd buy a new one. You can try transferring your save to your new memory card, but if your old one is corrupted then there is a chance that it will corrupt your new one as well.

This can be done from within the PS2 browser, where you can view, delete, or copy your game saves between memory cards. You can copy PS1 save data to PS2 cards, but only for backup and storage purposes, you will still need your PS1 memory card to load and save from within games.

I have had a memory card become corrupted before, but as I recall the PS2 still recognized it, only it read as being full of blank purple cubes labeled corrupted data.

Does your PS1 card still read properly?

Yes, the PS2 memory card can store PS1 saves, but cannot use them.
